I prefer Grand Californian. Location can't be beat, especially for young kids who may need some rest during the day. Great pool. Love the Arts and Crafts style. Would ask for a non Downtown Disney view room, as walk is pretty long to those rooms.
There is no right answer on this one, as it's really a matter of preference. Some love Disneyland Hotel, others like Grand Californian. I like the lodgey, more peaceful atmosphere of Grand Californian. Some think that Disneyland has more history and Disneyland charm. My experience at Grand Californian has always been better than Disneyland Hotel. However, I would be interested to try those new remodeled rooms at DLH.
Thanks, guys! My plan was to stay at GCH (thanks for the tip about requesting a non-Disney view!) because it is so much closer and I love the hotel (just walking through it and eating there). However, since they are not available the dates I want, it requires me to reverse my beach/DL portions of the week, which means I will have to redo all my dining reservations and my beach hotel reservation as well. DLH does have availability the dates I want (and I have heard good things about it), thus the dilemma!
how much time do you plan on spending at the resort...is it a big part of your day- or mostly a place to sleep? I would not change all the other plans just to switch to another resort that you are not going to spend a lot of time in ...
PLM - We never stay at the parks all day without going back to the hotel. Since we have two small kids they need a bit of rest time, so we usually go in the morning for 4 hours or so and then back in the early evening for another few hours.
