I am going somewhere with this so please play along!;)

When you hear the name of this business, "Prim Parties" what is the first thing that comes to mind? What type of business do you think it is just by seeing/hearing the name?

It sounds like a part company that specializes in modest parties, as in no strippers, cleavage, drinking, poker playing, etc.

I think of a party planning bussiness that probably specializes in fancy events such as weddings, CEO events and maybe even swanky children's parties.

Sounds cute, maybe a tad pretentious. Still, I like it! And would certainly look into using their services.

Honestly the first thing I thougt of was those women's parties that sell sexy lingere and sex toys, only for the modest set. Lacy, full length nightgowns instead of garter belts and thongs, and well something prim and proper instead of the usual toys at those parties.

Prim is kinda of a negative word to me, right up there with stuffy, boring, stick in the mud, rigid, and uptight. Or like your Great Aunt Gertrude who always gave you the stink eye at the holidays if you crossed your legs instead of your ankles.

I agree. The name is a turn-off.

Doilies. That's the first thing that popped into my head.

The first thing I thought of was tea parties for little girls.

I really don't like the word prim, though. Sounds very snooty. :snooty:

I think someone with the last name Prim has started a party company. It might also be pronounced Prime Parties but they got a bit cute with the spelling. Like Pur (Pure) water filters.

For some reason, I thought of Mary Poppins.:confused3 I think of a bunch of uptight women sitting around having a boring party.

prim makes me think of proper. Prim and proper makes me think of neat and tidy and conservative. It has a negative connotation to me.

Well, I can't name Mary Poppins, but parasols and bonnets were definatly what I saw in my mind!!!

sounds like women sitting around in turtlenecks, skirts and pearls trying to look like they are having a good time.

One thing I learned about marketing: Don't get too cute with names. You are better off with something that explains what the service or product is. Getting the message out about your biz is difficult enough without having to explain it to people. Whatever your product is, there is too much confusion and negativity just among the first few responses here. Good luck:)

This is what i needed, thank you all so much!

Now what about this:
Birthdaybration

Sounds high and mighty--versus prim and proper.

Birthdaybration sounds very very weird to me--almost like you tried too hard to come up with a clever name.
