The thread regarding the homemade t-shirts is INCREDIBLE!!! If you haven't seen it, it is worth checking out!! I for one am addicted to it.

I need some input on the transfer sheets. Is there a difference in quality of transfer paper? :confused3 Found some on the internet that says 'commercial quality' 'not found in retail stores'.

Also, I would like some that isn't rubbery. Is there such a thing?

After you have printed your image, do you cut it out so there isn't 'extra' rubbery stuff on your shirt?

Traveling in Dec (3-9)...should I do long sleeve, short sleeve or sweatshirts?

HELP!! I need your advice.

I made a pillowcase for DD for our DCL cruise last November. I just bought the transfer paper from Walmart. I'm not sure what the difference would be. Also, I did cut out the figures as much as I could. Turned out great! Good Luck!

I agree...just buy the brand carried at Walmart...it's priced fairly. Then just follow the instructions that come with the package. I have noticed that I don't have to use the best print mode for the best quality of shirt. We have an Epson c84, and I use the "photo and text" option to print the transfers.

A word of caution....make sure you get the right kind of paper....made for regular shirts (i.e. white and light color) or for dark shirts. The only difference is for dark shirts there is no "mirror image" needed.

Also, be sure to have the iron settings correct, and apply EQUAL pressure. Sometimes I've noticed a bit of yellow tinge to the prints when I'm done...I figured out that it was actually part of the transfer adhesive that wasn't fully applied to the shirt.

All in all it is a pretty easy and painless process...just takes a bit of time. I use the Hanes tshirts at Walmart...they are $3.97 each around here...the only thing is the white is a bit thin.

Hope this helps!

I bought transfer paper at ACMoore's near home. I know my sister buys it there, or also at Staples/Office Max. (one of the brands is HP) Just follow the directions and you'll be fine. :flower:

If you have a popular brand of printer buy the transfer paper made for your printer. Yes you need to trim around it. Be sure to follow the directions so the transfer lasts on the shirt.

The art teacher at our high school, who uses lots of transfer paper swears by the Xerox brand. She has tried lots of others and says they don't compare. She also has a special iron press though and she says it does a much better job than a home iron.
