 My family and I, 4 year old and 8 year old, along with wife are trying to plan a spare of the moment trip to disney world. None of us have ever been there. We have already paid for a room off of the disney resort area. We will arrive in Florida from Texas on 06/09 and leave on 06/13. We have looked at information to all parks and figured that the Magic Kingdom and MGM studios would be more enjoyable for the kids (I think) Can anyone give me information on what to do during our stay. I don't know what to expect and am getting frustrated. I have waited 30 years to experience this and want to make it fun and exciting for my family.

first of all.... WELCOME TO THE DIS!!!

2nd, your on your way on finding out what to do. Just keep reading threads and ask any questions you have, and somebody will have the anwser.

next thing to remember, you can never do everything on your trip. even people who have been to WDW 20-30 times in their life havent done everything. If you dont get to something, its an excuse to go back again ;) So do not stress out about this :)

Before you go, you might want to buy your tickets, this way you wont have to stand inline before you get into the parks. Try buying them at a Local Disney store (if there is one near you, or you can order them online at www.disneyworld.com ), if your a member of the AAA, call your local office and see if they sell tickets there, or there are many ticket places online who sell them (keep reading the boards for theres).

Visit www.disneyworld.com and look at each park and see what they have to offer. Look at their decriptions of the attraction/rides/shows and see what intrest you, and write it down.

and the most imporant rule is HAVE FUN!!!! after all, this is why your going to florida right? dont stress out about anything, if anything gets you up set, take a deep breath, look around and remember where you are :D

like i said earlyer.... ask as many questions as you can (but check out the last few pages of the board just to make sure the question wasnt anwsered earler) and dont be afraid to reply to threads ;) :bounce: :bounce: :jester:

When we plan our trips we like to make priority seating for some of our dinners. It is a nice break to just sit and relax. Disney World is a huge place and we always needed some down time to regenerate. Have a wonderful trip.

WELCOME to the Dis!!!!! Check out www.wdwig.com for great info.... don't worry... you will have a great time!!!!

You might want to check out a couple of guidebooks if you don't already have one. There are a lot of really good ones-Birnbaum's, The Unofficial Guide to WDW, Passporter and Birnbaum's for kids. These give you a really good idea about what is in each park. We didn't really find MGM to be too kid-friendly for younger kids. Although there are a couple of shows there really aren't a lot of rides for younger kids. Of course my 9 y/o is not brave enough for RnRC or TOT. Even though a lot of people dismiss AK as an overrated zoo it really is a beautiful park with lots to see and do. Anytime you feel stressed just stop by these boards for reassurance and don't worry about asking questions--as you can see by my tag the only stupid question is the one you don't ask!! Happy planning--you are going to have a blast:Pinkbounc

WELCOME!! You and your family are going to have a blast. I recommend at least one Character meal, we like Chef Mickey's at the Contemporary. I love the "Unofficial Guide!" Very informative and FUNNY!

If you're looking to plan the trip of a lifetime, you're definitely in the right place! Welcome to the DIS.

The first thing I'd recommend is planning which parks you plan to be in on which day. Avoid Early Magic Hour parks since you will not be staying on-site. Here's a link to help you plan:

http://wdwig.com/emhour.htm

These parks will tend to be more crowded since on-site guests will be taking advantage of the EMH.

After you have planned where you'll be, I'd suggest you make a list of your must-see attractions. Although I know you'd like to see everything, that just isn't realistic on your time frame.

And plan to have at least one character meal: If this may be the only time you're able to visit the park, this will be a priceless event. Great photo opportunities to get the kids pics with the characters without waiting in line. We particularly like Chef Mickey's and the Liberty Tree.

What type of tickets are you buying?? 4-day hoppers?? If so, you might actually be able to fit in a few early morning hours at the Animal Kingdom to see its top attractions, and still have plenty of time at MGM and the MK.

THE BEST ADVICE OF ALL?? Keep coming back to these boards with your questions!!

As people have already pointed out, you can't do everything! Please be sure to leave a whole morning or afternoon to enjoy your hotel's pool and such. Maybe a dinner close to your hotel then off to bed!

Nothing - and I mean nothing! - ruins a trip more than overtired children and exasperated parents.

I also vote for a character meal (1900 Park in the Grand Floridian is nice).

What ever you do, you are sure to have fun!

Welcome to the boards.

Just a word of warning:
WDW is like eating chips. You can't stop at just one.

You will be back over and over again
