I really need some advice for a friend. She has a group of 12 going to Disney June 3 - 11. Her family is 4, her sister's family is 6, and grandma and grandpa. All 6 kids are under 9 and one is 1. They are looking for an inexpensive, but decent place to stay that has good shuttle service to Disney parks. Does such a place exist? :sulley:

Please let me know about your experiences!

TIA...Shelly

The cheapest place I can think of is Cypress Point (Use Hotelkingdom.com for best rates) She can get a three bed for pretty cheap, but no transportation. Another option is Palms Suites Lakeside with the loft. It may be tight for 12 though. 2 rooms at Mainstay Suites is another good option, I believe they have shuttles too. .

Have her try

Not alot of cheap places have reliable Shuttles though.

Another option is to rent a 12 passenger van and stay at a 5 Bed Pool Home. It may be more cost effective. You can get a Pool home for under $1000 a week. Go through Hotwire or Priceline to rent a van. Buy tickets from Ticketmania or undercovertourist.

Hopefully gg and gp will be footing their end of the trip!

They are considering a pool home and renting a van. Grandma and grandpa are used to camping, so they are not used to paying hotel prices.

I will have her check out those websites. Thanks!

Wow! That house looks really nice. I like the fact that it is in a gated community. Has anyone ever stayed in this area?

We had 10 of us in Feb, easy to get to Disney 10 mins to epcot 15 to Mk, rental cars. Walmart a 2 minutes away. Nice pool, quiet area, security gate

There are a lot of rental homes out there, and many threads about them on this board.

Does that house have a pull out sofa? It seems like it doesn't quite sleep 11 + 1 in a crib. And for my family, the 2 double beds wouldn't be ideal. The one hallway bathroom for 3 of the bedrooms doesn't seem like quite enough.

Are there 5 bedroom villas with more bathrooms?

This one had 3 full bathrooms, two queen type rooms, then the the other 2 can sleep 2 twin beds. tha last bedroom has a bunkbed and sleeps 3. We never checked the couch as we did not need it.

Definitely get a vacation home for that amount of people, we went down with 14 and rented a 6 bedroom home in Windsor Palms, fabulous! I mean absolutely wonderful! And you never felt crowded, own pool, and they have a community pool, community movie theatre, gym, etc.. Cheaper then a hotel and really nice. :thumbsup2

Really and truly, make a wishlist of everything you want in a villa vacation rental..
Bedding arrangements: want king size, queen, twins and/or combos of all
House "amenities": Gamesroom, wifi internet access, free international long distance, pool/spa, large screen TVs, 2 living areas (quiet livingroom, and the family room), "upgraded" patio furniture, gas/electric barbeque
Development/Resort amenities: Community pool/clubhouse, Golf course, gated/non-gated, onsite check-in, lockbox for keys...

Decide on what your group "must haves"...and your budget...and then you can do one of 3 things..

1)Lots of websites out there will allow you to generate this wishlist "General Enquiry", submit to owners, and the ones with availability will get back to you (Just sit back and watch the offers literally pour in!!)

2)...or you can narrow the list down yourself (got a few hours??;) ), and then contact the owners directly yourself.

3) Contact a Management Company..they'll probably have a house that meets your requirements:) You may pay a little more though than dealing direct, but you may not.

HTH!!

Magical Memories Villas...We paid $89 per night for a two-bedroom condo in Kissimmee, but they had given us a 3 bedroom (I don't know why - and I thought my two girls would like having their own bedroom, but they slept together anyway!)
The three bedrooms: Master had a King bed and the other two bedrooms had two twin beds. The livingroom area was huge and it had a sleeper sofa.
For that price, I'd let her know. BTW, no shuttle back and forth to Disney.

Just want to thank everyone who has responded so far. I don't know how she'll make a choice. There are so many options to choose from. :disrocks:

I believe the 6 bedroom we had in Windsor Palms had 5 bathrooms, 3 downstairs and 2 upstairs. It was really wonderful and with 14 people never felt crowded, I hate that feeling with other people of being in each other's way, etc., even if it is family and it never felt like that. We had a blast that year. Have fun!
