My DD's 14U fastpitch team is playing in the USSSA Nationals in Orlando in July. In this and most National type tournaments, the kids bring a gift to give to each opposing player at the first game. Does anyone have an idea? One thing we came up with is to have someone surge (embroider) "Nationals 2004" or something about softball onto a beach towel or backpack. Does anyone know a place to buy those plain black nylon sport backpack's?Also wondering if anyone who has been to a tournament has any good ideas to share about door decorations for the hotel or things for the team to wear or hand out at opening ceremonies. Last year we saw some cute flip-flops with some sort of fabric tied around them and we brought candy and beads to hand-out. Any other idea?

first Congrads!!!

next an idea -- how about purchasing a beach towel and some snacks in putting it into a canvas tote decorated by your DD ( fabric totes and paints can be found at most craft stores like Micheals or AC Moore )

Hope this helps.. Michelle

At the soccer tournaments each team traded patches with their town's name on them...usually decorated with soccer motifs...so at the end of a tournament each player had a bunch of different patches from various towns.

I'm not sure if this helps or not.

Thanks for the replies. The girls are bringing pins to trade so this would be in addition to the pin trading. I like the beach towel idea and have been watching for a sale since we need 15 (the most you can roster for the tournament).

Bumping to get more ideas. Please HELP!

T-shirts made by the girls... fabric paint.... Do various sizes and maybe a couple extras so you are likely to fit everyone.

Friendship bracelets - Ankle or wrist - (dones anyone do these anymore??!?)

I think you could sew those backpack/bag things yourself.... make them out of Denim and fabric paint for something original.

Make a "card" using candy - hit like Baby Ruth - Worth 100,000 Grand - hope you Crunch your first opponent.... etc. Could do one for each girl. All the same, or all different. It would be fun to do some by position. This might be a bad idea unless you avoid chocolate due to melting!

Picture frame - hand painted or decorated with items glued on.... put words in to start but they can replace with a picture.

Handmade keychains/bag hooks -

Ohh..... I like the idea of bag tags (nametags for the girls to attach to their bags).

HTH!!!

Maybe those charm braclets they sell in Claires, and you could add the link charms maybe a soccer ball or anything else you like. :flower3:

Regarding the doors, our dance group decorated our doors last year we make gold stars with their names on it, along with the team name and event. They then took it from there and finished each door the way they wanted. Adding pictures, slogans, nicknames etc. Great fun. This year we are preforming in Disney. Made up castles with glitter, the name as "Princess or Prince" to put in the Hotel window. They also have the studio name and team name on the castle. They will add any stickers or personal touch they want. princess:

Thanks so much for all the great ideas! I love the community board because you can always count on someone to have an answer for you. I am going to run these ideas by the other Mom's tonight.

Wal*Mart has plain FOTL t-shirts on special in the Men's Dept this week. I paid $3.88 each for 3 white ones. Try posting on the craft board if you haven't already.
