My DD asked me if she could have a High School Musical 2 party on the night the show comes out (8/17). The movie starts at 6:00pm our time. DD wanted to show it using our projector and large wall screen that we use for movie nights, but it won't be dark enough at 6:00pm for the projector. So, I'm going to TIVO it and then show the movie when it gets darker.

Now I need some other themed ideas on what else to do with the girls while we wait for it to get dark. DD is starting 6th grade in August so the girls will be 11 and 12 year olds. I'm guessing there will be about 6 other girls besides DD. That's about all the screaming our dogs will be able to tolerate. :dog2: :dog2:

Any ideas for themed snacks, games, or dances? :dance3:

How funny! My DD's friend is doing this too, and I thought - "What a creative idea!" I never would have though of it. Our girls are 4th grade. No ideas - just was surprised to see this post.

This is actually DD7's birthday and she wants to have the High School Musical Birthday Party!! So, I am in need of all party stuff too!!!! I actually thought the movie was coming out on DVD not on TV, I am soooo behind the times here. See what happens when you busy doing other stuff and not watching Disney Channel!! :rotfl2: Any way, any suggestions and help would be greatly appreciated.

My dd7 is having a party also. I was trying to find some HS musical invites that didn't say anything about being a birthday party. Has anyone had any luck?

There is a Special Edition of People magazine out right now that is all about High School Musical 2. They have a section in there entitled throw your own HSM2 party. It has ideas for snacks, drinks, and activities. I have it at home, so if you guys can't find it pm me and I will get you a copy and send it to you.

This may be a stupid question, but isn't this movie coming out in the theatres on 8/17? Or is it on DVD? My DD10 wanted to do this for her birthday also on 8/17 and I thought we would be going to the movie theatre. If it is on DVD I have to plan an at home party. Thanks for any info!

That's so funny. We were planning on doing this, too. My girls are younger though. Going into 2nd grade. I was thinking of a HSM sing and dance along or even watching the first movie first. We were going to keep it really low key. I may even completely clear out the family room so there is a large place to dance and move around.

I can't wait to read what others are doing.

Not a stupid question - it must be nice not to be a total part of the Wildcat world!

HS Musical II will be on the Disney Channel, Friday evening August 17th. I guess the time it will be on depends on your location. For us it will be 8:00 at night.

Amazingmoms.com had some really good party ideas - Here is one - "Search for the Cell Phones Mrs. Darbus has hidden everyone's cell phones. The kids have to find them! Before the party hide several plastic, candy filled or lip gloss cell phones. Write clues using the movie as hints. You'll find a fun quiz and other ideas that may help on the High School Musical Website.
When it's time to play, the kids will work as a team to answer all
of the clues and find the cell phones. Of course everyone gets a
phone to take home!"

Check out their site for other great ideas.

Good luck - these parties are going to be a blast!

My DD is a little younger but for her 7th b-day she had a HSM party. Two games we played was Get your head in the game. Like pin the tail on the donkey. I drew a basketball backboard on posterboard and basketballs. On the basketballs I had put pictures of the characters on them. The kids had to get the ball in the hoop. Then they also did hot potato with my cell phone. I downloaded a HSM ringtone, when the phone rang you were caught by Miss Darvious and had to leave to game. The games are a little younger but I thought I would share.

Well, snacks would be easy because it's high school! Set up a bunch of different school snacks in a row on your table and give each kid their own small tray so they can go through the line and pick up stuff they want! Doesn't have to be anything fancy or expensive. If you plan to feed them dinner you can be the lunch lady and put their slice of pizza on their tray or something.

For the invitations maybe you could give them all a report card or hall pass or something.. or "tickets" to the show!

Unfortunately for me being in my 20's none of my friends would want to come to a HSM party so I'll be watching it alone that night lol. Good luck with the parties though!

My daughters 8th b-day is 8/19 and we are having the party 8/17 for the premier.

I am doing a swimming/sleepover party.

I have great HSM 2 invitations designed by a talented fellow dis member. I am getting a personalized edible cake topper from ebay.. I am decoration with
Yellow and Light blue balloons.. those seem to be the color theme of the new movie.

For favors I am giving each girl a personalize HS Musical t-**** that I am ironing on. Cheaper than doing a goody bag.

Oooh, thanks for the tip! I hope it's still available. I will look for it today. If I can't find it, I'll PM you!!!

Thanks for the GREAT ideas! I love the cell phone idea and the lunch lady idea! I'm a teacher so I'll ask the lunch lady at school if I can have a hair net and I'll wear a white jacket. I can serve them Pizza.

Keep the ideas coming!

What a cool idea!!

Both DD11 and DS7 are excited about HSM2. I don't know if we will have an actual "party", but we are planning on watching it together. (Yes, even DH and I!) It is marked on our calendar.

I am going to have to look for that People mag at lunch. DD is at camp this week and that would be a nice "surprise" for her to have when she gets home.

Hi, would you care to share the invitations and the ebay seller (or auction) that makes the personalized cake toppers?? Thanks so much! And I think from above you just forgot to add the "r" to t-shirt:)

My DD5 just went to a birthday party and they played "Kiss Troy" instead of pin the take on the donkey!

She blew up a picture of Troy and laminated clip art lips that they trid to get on his face!!!

They loved it!
