my son, Daniel, will be 1 on feb 13. I am having a hard time finding what I want for invitations/decorations. I just want to do a small family party, but that will end up being 20 people or so.

Any ideas? Any favorite on-line sites? I don't really want to do a character, but dh does. Daniel does LOVE Bear in the Big Blue House. Never watched tv (good) before he saw this when I was clicking around. Now it makes him giggle and I do let him watch. Maybe should just go ahead and do this. But I can't find 1st birthday bibbh. Hmmm...

gee, rambling a bit, aren't I? LOL!

I think your best bet would be to go look around at one of the party stores. We find Party City is the cheapest, but theres also IParty, and a couple more around(the names escape me right now). I made a couple visits to Party City before DS's party last weekend and found a ton of stuff, with just about any theme. I think I even saw some with just a "1st birthday" theme, but no real characters. Good luck and let us know what you decide.

I have a poem that we included with DS's 1st bday invitations. I cant get it now because its in DS's baby book in his room and hes asleep. Ill try to look for it tomorrow and post it. Basically its about him being done turning 1. its really cute.

And Happy Birthday, Daniel!!!

Awww first birthday. When my girls had their first birthday I did the whole "First Birthday" theme.
Its the only time you get to do that.
Happy Birthday Daniel!!!

First birthday's are so much fun! We had big family party for each of our kids. But the best part...on their actual birthday we go a very small cake. Stripped the kids down to the diaper and put them and the cake on the floor! Huge mess but so much fun! just smashing cake! DD really got into it! DS well he is a little neater and didn't like getting messy!
As for paper products we were boring and just got happy first birthday stuff!

What fun, a first birthday. How about a jungle birthday theme. You could hang green streamers with green paper leaves glued to them from the ceiling along with green balloons, some colorful paper birds and snakes could be placed around the room.

Maybe a "Bugs Life Theme"

or

"Bob the Builder"

or

a Pirate theme.

Whatever you decide just be sure to have the 1st birthday cake. Each of our kids got thier own cake to poke, smash and fling all over the place. Also be sure to pick up a scrapbook so you can have a nice place to display and write about your ds's first birthday!!

Have fun!!!

We have a first birthday on the first of Feb which is also Chinese New Year. So we are having our party at a Chinese restaurant and giving out red good luck envelopes with lucky money inside as a party gift.

As for your question....try going on yahoo and search for party supplies. There are many sites which provides different themed party supplies. Good Luck!

My son is now goingon 21 but for his first BD I did a Mickey Mouse theme. His room was all Mickey Mouse, Can you tell I like Disney. :D

I found the poem. I got this from a girl who I used to work with. Her friends husband made it up and put it in their kids invitation.

Turning One

The last twelve months
have been so much fun;
I have to admit,
I've enjoyed turning one.
I can grab Daddy's nose
and give it a good tug;
I can empty my bubs
all over Mom's rug.
When suppertime comes,
I clear off my tray;
after Mom and Dad clean,
we do it again the next day.
When Mom tries to change me
I try to be good;
but I have to keep moving,
it's just understood.
So if you come to my party,
you'll see all this fun;
we can get on with year 2
cause I'm done turning one.

thanks all! Love the poem, too! We went to the party store today and actually agreed on a pattern...its a zoo animal one for 1st birthday. really cute!!!

Now on to the food...hmmmm...plus I really want to make his cake. My mom always made our cakes. But I will probably have to feed 20 people. Yikes!

I did a cupcake for each of my kids on their first birthday, so they could attack it without messing up the whole cake. It also had a little keepsake on top for me to put away for them. Just be sure to watch his hands. My brother burned his hand at his first birthday when he grabbed the candle! :eek:

Tell Daniel that I said happy birthday. It's my birthday on the 13th too! Only I'm a bit older. I'll be 42 this year.

this isn't theme related but memory related. For DD's 1st birthday I found something that was awesome. I found a growth chart that had places to put in pictures. The reason this is important is because it was a long folded card. I had everyone that was at the party sign it for DD, I put in pictures from her party and then we put it in her timecapsule. It was full of memories and wishes for her future from all of the important people in her life. Very cool!

Hope you have a great time!!!

what i did on my daughters first birthday was ~ get a onesie and paint "please come to my 1st birthday party on ____ at____ Love_______. Take a picture of him in it and there is your party invitations. at walmart they have those cards that frame your picture on the outside and its blank on the inside, I could only find the plain ones so I bought stickers and decorated them the way I wanted too.
