The idea was brought on by DVC, and Disney's lack of involvement on getting the members together for much more than a merry mixer or some kind of game show hosted by an annoying personality.
So - I figured the singles board would be the place to hit when asking where's the best place (in your mind) to meet up with strangers, sit a spell and assuming children are involved, is not too bar-like.
The cool thing about DVC is that it permits pool-hopping, so that's a great option (when it's not too cold or pouring w/t-storms), but open for other ideas. I realize that not too many folk are going to go out of their way to meet others when there are so many other options for entertainment, so this boat might just be blown out of the water before it ever starts it's engines.
When we had the "meet me at the kitchen sink" it was perfect for all sizes, shapes and form... singles, couples and families... right outside beaches and cream they have a few rows of chairs and tables that was perfect for a gathering... kids enjoyed ice cream, fries and stuff...
another venue we enjoyed for a meet was at Gherardelli.. lots of space/tables and chairs and again yummy ice cream...
for DVC meets that I had attended or had organized was the BBQ area by Congress at SSR... yes some did show up and wasted a half day eating bbq and just chatted away and this spot was perfect since it was also next to a semi playground/foamie type and the pool.
another successful meet by the pool near the walkman at POP.. it was a bring your won cooler type of meet... the pool was not to busy basically only the kids from the meet was there and there was a row of chairs and table.
another succesful meet location was the "carousel of progress meet we had a few years back... nice big area... close to refreshments and the ride hold everybody... and a nice bi level location for pictures.
and when the dining plan was introduced.. we did the Planetary Boogie Meet by cosmic ray... again centered on food for the family, lots of room and has AC
But the closest to my heart is my TOT meet... when you have 45 minute wait and you have all this peeps chatting along... by the time you get to elevator.. you wish that it is not yet time to go... and at the end of the meet a sure phot souviner to take with you.
ohhh one good one.. was the "meet me at the pit" it was perfect on a nice cool night... did this in january about 3-4 years ago at AKL... that fire pit outside around dusk... perfect... kids have room to run around while DH are wathcing over and the mrs are chatting away

and if you really in a party mood!!! You can organize a party of 21 or more for a dessert illumination gathering.... 2 years ago it was about $800/ 32pp party and that already includes the handling fee for a CM... enough time to get dessert happy... get to know everybody in the party and your own personal space for the Illumination fireworks!!!
