DH & I just had a wonderful, long weekend at our favorite get-away. A friend of ours has worked at the hotel that we stay at and got our room for us at less than half-price. He works at a restaurant now & we ate there 2 nights and he took 15% the first time and gave us appetizers when we dined with friends the second night. The last time he got our room at such a reduced rate, we gave he and his wife a GC to the restaurant he sent us to one night (we figured that he likes it since he sent us there - turned out that restaurant owner hired him to run his new restaurant.) We want to send a thank-you gift, but don't have any ideas. We also don't want to spend a lot & defeat the lovely gesture that he made on our behalf. (we really will go more often if he can continue to get the room so cheap for us - then spending $$ at the restaurant!) We're hoping that in the future, we can have brunch with he and his wife, but he's too busy right now with work. Any ideas for a thank you gift?

Not sure what you're looking to spend, but how about a Harry and David's gift basket or gift tower? Their treats are high quality and their service is wonderful! Check out their stuff at www.harryanddavids.com .

He's starting a new position?

How about a business card case or money clip?

I think a thank you card is perfectly acceptable. But, if you want to Harry & David baskets are always wonderful!
