Hi "Famly" members - My family and I are heading down to HH the week for 4 days and would love any suggestions/comments/thoughts you might have. Which is the best location (we are in a studio) in the resort, which is the best boat cruise, any restaurant suggestions?!? Can't wait to hear from you and thanks for your help! :)

Our son went to Marist College in your city. We just returned from HH and loved our stay and the weather was great! There are not many studios to select from. Two years ago we had a studio with a marsh view which was nice. We ate at the Crazy Crab, Hilton Head Brewing Co. and Steamers (amongst others) while we were there and the food was good. We usually eat around 3-3:30 after spending time at the beach house (then return later). Guiseppies pizza which is close to the resort was also good. We travelled to Savannah for a day and will return to visit this city again.

You will love it!

We were there for a week earlier this month and it was awesome. We will go back often (even with a 16 hour drive).

I agree with Walter...I would try to hit the dinner restaurant hour around 3-3:30...mainly because it starts getting crowded as you hit 5 p.m.

the dolphin discovery tour through Disney was awesome. If you get a captain Scott, you will love him. Great fun to talk to, and very knowledgeable about the dolphins!

We're not big seafood eaters so can't help you there...but there was a good pizza joint just up from the resort that is tucked behind another place. It was called "Dunes" and they gave DVCers a discount when we were there (just had to mention it when you were paying).

If you are looking for something quick and to help avoid the crowds...the Hilton Head Diner was a good one. Big selection, pretty decent food and--although busy--we never had a line.

Keep in mind, if you rent bikes, that if Disney is out of the bikes you need, they can give you the name of a rental company (Palmetto Dunes bike rentals I think) who will honor Disney's rate and even deliver the bikes to your room free of charge! One bit of caution on the bikes...if you use the bike bath that goes under the main drag to cross be VERY careful. That path is way too narrow for two riders passing each other and my 3 year old got scraped up pretty bad on one arm (she was in a child seat behind me) when we ran into the railing because of a path hogging biker!

Have an awesome time!!!!! If you have young kids, take advantage of the great family stuff they offer at the resort.

We, too, just came back from 5 days at Hilton Head. Weather was fantastic. In our group several went golfing three days in a row while the rest of us (all retired and about-to-be-retired adults) rented an umbrella and beach chairs and read books on the beach, hit the pool in late afternoon, and visited Pinckney Refuge for birding and alligator sightings. For the golfers, HH National is a favorite. Disney will help DVC members with tee times, vouchers, etc. If you look in your membership book, you'll find details about Disney golf.
Also, in your room you'll find a Celebration envelope that has discount tickets in it for golf, some restaurants, etc. Look in it early. We looked too late and found we could have saved quite a bit of money on golf discounts, food, etc.

The Pinckney Refuge is just over the bridge; admission is free, though I noticed Disney offers a tour there for fifteen dollars. It's an easy drive and if you walk in about a mile to the Ibis Pond, and follow the trail around it, you'll see nesting herons, alligators, etc. Two of our party are experienced birders and outdoorsy types, so we had plenty of commentary and direction. This is an easy place to go on your own.

On our last day the entre troupe went to Sun City Hilton Head, since two of our party are interested in exploring options there. That was kind of fun if you're in the market.

For dinner we ate at Skip's Fish Market in Shelter Cove, and several ate at the Italian restaurant over there -- think it's called the Venezia or something like that. (I missed it because of late arrival) Those who ate there thought food was great. We also ate at Old Fort Pub, pricey but good.

Our favorite for food, though, is using the grills at Hilton Head. We had a two bedroom so this was easy. There are picnic tables and the Piggly Wiggly, lovingly known as "the pig" is just down the street.

This was our second year at HH, which I chose as my home resort, sight unseen. I am already looking forward to our next visit. Last year we took a day trip to Savannah; next time we hope to fit in Charleston. I must admit, though, I love the beach.

Have a fabulous time!

Thank you to those who have responded to my cry for help! I really appreciate all of the wonderful tips and I am sure we will have a fantaticl time! Thanks again and enjoy your next visit "Home".

You will love HH at this time of year. I was there last year during this week and it was beautiful. The weather was wonderful and the crowds low.

I took a Nature Hike, Dolphin Cruise, Kayak trip and enjoyed the Shrimp Boil while at the Resort. Since I had a car I drove out to Sea Pines/Harbour Town, Lawton Horse Stables, Coligny Plaza and other sections of the Island. If you play either tennis or golf, stop by the Palmetto Dunes Center.

I dined out nearly every night. If you like seafood you will be very pleased. I enjoyed Scott's Fishmarket (near the Resort), Old Oyster Factory, Del Vecchio's, the Salty Dog and the Hilton Head Diner. Avoid Crabby Nick's. I made the mistake of going there my first night and it lives up to it's name.

The sign regulations on HH are very strict -- look for wooden signs hidden in shrubs for stores/restaurants. As you're heading onto the island, and just past Sun City, is a Wal-mart that has the best grocery prices around.

We LOVE HHI.
