DH and our new little DD are thinking of going to Disney this summer. I have always stayed on-site but given our new budget (I am now staying home with DD so we are on one income now). I have looked into all sorts of places to stay. I have found some timeshare places with tickets... some timeshare places without tickets and really low prices, etc. Everytime I find something I see mixed reviews on it. We want some place with a kitchen to help with the cost of food (plus DD will probably be 8 months when we go so she will not want to be in the park as long as we are used to being there.) Can you help tell me some ideas of inexpensive yet not cockroach infested places to stay? Our budget is really limited but we don't know where else to go with the little one and I LOVE disney!

P.S. I have used sites like hotel kingdom, etc. but I never know which place to pick since I see so many mixed reviews.

THANKS!

We stayed at the HIFS in Sept. and loved it! My then 3yo dd had a great time! The whole resort centers around kids, it's about 5 minutes outside the gates of WDW, and free buffet breakfast every morning! hth!

My family and I have stayed off site many times. Never have we even seen 1 cockroach!! LOL!!

We usually do priceline. I just made our reservation for the end of the month. I am paying $20 a night. I know some people are picky about the things in their hotel. I figure for me that as long as the sheets are clean and there is a bathroom that is good enough for me.

Now as for some places that have a kitchen. Depending on the time of year you can get great prices. The best place was Hawthorne Suites. They have a full size refrigerator, stove, microwave, sink and a dishwasher. It is very nice. They have 2 seperate rooms. A dining area with a pull out sofa and a bedroom with beds. Two televisions and lots of room. All in all it was very nice. I think at the time we paid $69. It was in September. I loved the room and they had a nice breakfast. Lots of food. They have bacon, eggs, sausage, bagels, cereal, milk. So much food that it was hard to eat it all.

Hope this helps some.

I've been to Disney many times. Only twice have I encountered a serious insect problem. Both times were ONSITE!

I'm a firm believer in staying offsite. You get far more space, far greater amenites and pay far less.

I would suggest checking out a 2-bedroom condo at Windsor Palms.

Depending on season, they start as low as $55/nite. The complex is beautiful and less than 2 years old. They have a nice size community pool and lots of other perks you can read about at the website.

As for suite hotels, we've stayed at Quality Suites, Days Suites and Homewood Suites and I'd be comfortable recommending any of them.

you might be able to get a 2 bedroom condo on Skyauction for about $270 for a week. You will have a kitchen.

As far as Hotelkingdom, I have stayed at Amerisuites Calypso Cay, and they have a mini kitchen with micro and fridge, and a nice pool.

Disneysteve -- how did you find that rate at windsor palms? I am still not sure when we are going to go... and I am being flexible right now but when we look at windsor we can't find anything under $70 a night. Please help me!

sln88 -- I have tried skyauction and I guess I am just ignorant to how these things work because I saw fees added in at the bottom and got scared that things were not as good as they seemed.

usually the ready, set, go auctions can be won for around $55. Then they add on the fees of $195 and $15. I have used them 4 times without problems.

There is someone else on the boards who has used them over 20 times(can't remember the name). They are ligit. I believe they are just renting out unused timeshare space.

Check here:

There are ads there for $55 or $60/nite depending on season.
