My assistant room mom came up with the idea of doing a halloween Mad Lib for the Halloween party game.

Can you please help me write the base for it?

Thanks I really apreciate it!!

How fun..I love mad libs :)

I'd start with saying something about going trick or treating dressed as BLANK etc...then going to a BLANK house. Talk about what was inside the house, describe a meal at the table, noises etc...
It could go on and on with fill in the blanks :)

Good Luck!

The base would be the "bones" of the story and then the kids would fill in the nouns, verbs, etc. Then we put it all together. This is an example:

It can be anything that is grade 4 approriate. Ive even thought about doing the headless horseman, when done as a madlib this could be really fun!

I do mad libs in my language arts classes all the time. It gives them something to do, and it enhances thier skills.

You could easily write up something with haunted house, trick or treating or even harvest. Its actually very easy to do.

Basically write a story about Halloween. (Even have your kids write a one paragraph story). Then highlight words in the story to become mad lib words.

Retype the story using the highlighted words as your blanks.

Super easy

OK, I gave it a shot. I hope this is what you meant...

-------

To fill in:
Name – child’s name
Action verb – such as running, walking, dancing, skipping, etc.
Place – such as park, cemetery, school, etc.
Thing – such as bushes, car, tree, etc.
Animal
Adjective – such as angry, sorry, sad, silly, etc.

It was a dark and stormy night. [Name] was out much later than usual to go [action verb] with friends. While [Name] was [action verb] past the [place], a [thing] started to shake.

[Name] stopped and looked all around but saw no one. After looking around one more time, [Name] started [action verb] once more but stopped when the [thing] moved again. [Name] said “Who’s there? Come out now.” The only answer was “No one”.

Now [Name] was getting mad and said “Whoever is out there better watch out or you’ll be [adjective].” Again, [Name] just heard “No one.”

Finally, [Name] decided to keep [action verb] and ignore the noise if it came again. [Name] was almost past the [place] when the [thing] shook. “You better leave go away whoever you are” said [Name] but “No one” was all that was heard in reply.

Feeling more [adjective] then scared, [Name] stopped and looked around again. Just as [Name] was ready to leave, a little [animal] ran from behind the [thing]. Minutes later, [Name]’s neighbor walked up.

She asked “Have you seen my [animal]? I’ve been calling and calling but can’t find him.”

“What’s his name?” asked [Name].

“No One” was all her neighbor said.

Seems kind of lame to me but I wasn't sure how "spooky" you'd want it to be for 4th graders so I tried to add a "twist" at the end.
