Need Help with - VCR/DVD REcorder

Any idea why our new Sony VCR - DVD Recorder doesn't record a picture when using the DVD part. But the VCR works fine.

We can record and play back a VCR Tape. But we can only play DVD's on it. Everytime we go to Record to DVD it doesn't work.

We are using DVD -R to record on.

That might be the one that we have.

Yep we are waiting until it does it's thing. And all we get on play back is snow.
