Need help with ticket question

My family has had APs for years but for the first time in a long time we will not be renewing. My son, due to trip with my parents without me, is off schedule with the rest of us. For our trip in February his AP will expire at the end of day 2 of 6. We will need to buy him a 4 day PH ticket. Previously I could have waited until day 3 to buy it, but now thanks to FP+ I want to buy it ASAP so I can go ahead and copy our FPs to him.

I am concerned how it will work. When we arrive on day 1, do I need to tell someone that he has a valid AP still, to make sure that the PH is not used before it is needed? Am I really supposed to trust the system to do it correctly? Is there a number to call to rank the passes for order of use?

Thanks for any advice!

This is a very common question and it has a simple solution.

Before going into a park, stop by any Guest Relations and have the CM set the PRIORITY to the highest level for the ticket that you want to use that day.

You can do this as often as you like.

(If the AP is set to the highest priority, the AP will be used until it expires, at which time the next ticket in the priority will
be used for the next time a park is entered.)

Thank You:thumbsup2

I was sure it was a common issue, but couldn't seem to find the answer in the ticket sticky or other places I looked. I've been off the Theme Park board for a while (FP+ bickering started to get to me) so I had not seen the question asked that I could recall.

Thanks for the answer. Our first day is Animal Kingdom, so I'll just stop by the ticket window on the way in I guess.

Sadly, the Ticket Sticky has not been updated for over a year and a half.
When it was written, there were no MagicBands.

The only reason I mentioned that this is a common question is to reassure you that your situation is not unusual, nor is difficult to solve.

Heck, if I didn't want to answer common questions over and over, my post count would likely be only about 239. ;)

Wish I had known that last spring! My dd had an expiring 6 day hopper. A friend gave us two one day hoppers, complimentary. I had no problem attaching them to dd's MB. But, on day 7, she wasn't allowed into MK! The ticket reader said she didn't have any days left. Well, evidently, the readers used her 6 day hopper days first, rather than the two one day hoppers that expired two days before we checked out!
Thank heavens the manager we spoke to could see the passes that were attached to her account, and how they had been used. He fixed it all, and those two days were fine. But, we spent a good 20 mins getting it sorted out.
