Need help with the Gatlinburg area

My sister loves going to the Gatlinburg area. I think they recently stayed at the Wyndham at Sevierville, which I think is a RCI hotel. Anyway...they liked it! They enjoyed the indoor waterpark.

We stayed at this TS 2 years ago. The units were very nice, we had a 3 bedroom. My 2 complaints were the very heavy construction (which should be done by now) and the blasting in the quarry or mine or what ever you call it behind the resort. We actually left early because of all the noise!

In addition, the location of the resort was not good (in my opinion). I guess when I go to the mountains I like to see trees and mountains. Neither was visible at this resort. You had to go towards Gatlinburg to see anything that resembled those views.

Oh, forgot to mention, the water. Nasty stuff. For the first time in my life I bought bottled water (and I used to live in FL!).

We decided to go with the Holiday Inn. I just got off the phone with Member Services and we were able to get 7 nights at the end of July. The CM sounded really surprised that we were able to book anything -- I was surprised to learn that there is an automatic $35/day housekeeping fee.

Hopefully that's $35 for the week. I'm a regular member of RCI and the fine print says $35 "per unit" for the one bedroom. I sure hope they are not charging DVC members $35 a day for housekeeping. Here's the fine print from RCI's site:

"Urgent Information
1 in 3 year rule is resort specific. Members can exchange into other Holiday Inn Club Vacation resorts without waiting 3 years but they must wait 3 years to return to the Smoky mountain resort. Rental and bonus vacation guests are excluded from this policy. All reservations must pay mandatory housekeeping fees. 1 bedrooms are 35 dollars, 2 bedrooms are 45 dollars and 3 bedrooms are 80 dollars per unit."
