Need help with router/port forwarding

UGH, I am getting so frustrated...I bought DH a slingbox hd for christmas. For those who aren't familiar, you can watch live tv on your phone, computer, etc. Anyway, trying to set it up and it won't connect to the network. I have a wireless router and I was told I may need to open up a specific port, or set up port forwarding. I've called 3 customer support people, slingbox, linksys, and bestbuy and no one will help me w/out charging me for it. Does anyone know how to setup port forwarding on a wireless router? Thanks!

Have you checked the various websites for your specific products? Most have online troubleshooting or faq's that can help.

Can you attach the sling box directly to your router? I think slingbox doesn't recomend you use the device wireless.

I actually found the info on the slingbox sight, thanks! There was just so much info there, I needed to be more specific on what I was searching for...I'm now able to proceed with the setup. Thanks again.

Put in your router, and then the game/application/service you are attempting to use and it will show step by step pictures to configure. It tries to sell you some software, so you may have to click a link that says skip the ad at the top right to actually get to what you need.
