need help with Richard Petty and AAA

Can someone that has AAA please tell me if you can get a discount for Richard Petty without booking a vacation through them? We are contemplating purchasing a membership but are DVC members too so don't need to book through an agent. I want to sign my DH up for Richard Petty for our 12th anniversary and would love to receive a discount. Anyone know if it's only a discount on certain experiences or is it on any? What is the AP discount and how does it compare to the AAA rate? Last year when we went, I signed him up using the AP rate (can't remember how much) but they didn't even ask for our AP as proof. I thought for sure they'd want to at least see it but I was told it didn't matter because the rate was already in the computer. Strange!

I'm not sure about AAA discounts but know we got an AP discount. I suggest giving the Petty Driving Experience a call directly and asking or check them out at www.1800bepetty.com .

When we went in February it was like $40 a person that we got taken off using the AAA discount. We did not show our card either just called the 800# and tole them that we had it and that was that. Just be aware they do not have a great reputation. It is fun but the speeds listed that you did are way inflated. You go may 85 MPH following a trainer car for your laps. There is no passing, no peeling out or smoking the tires or you get taken off the track and lose your money. There are other places that have a lot better reputation and no lead car leading you around. BUT it was what my husband and brother in law wanted to do while we where there so that is what they did.

I got this for DH last October... he loved it!! Yes he would have liked to go faster.. but he did go over the 85mph that mcmom indicated... I called them directly & indicated that I had a AAA membership.. they took a % right off (can't remember how much) & never asked to see the card at check in etc... As far as not being able to peel out or smoke the tires.. those tires are WAY expensive & if they allowed people to do that it would become cost prohibitive..

I'll add I booked my dad for this for this coming Oct trip - dad is a Florida Resident, and they gave him a discount...

Thank you! I called RP direct this morning and they gave me the AAA price and said just to show my card when we checked in. Doesn't sound like you need a special card of any sort. My DH wants to do the King Experience, so this would save us $150! Definitely worth joining AAA.

My husband would love to do this as he is a huge nascar fan. I had no idea that they gave AAA discounts, thanks so much for the info. Maybe now we can afford it, lol.

My DH did this too and I got a discount with the orlando magic card which is free. I didn't know about the AAA which I had but if you don't the orlando magic card is free, just sign up on their webpage.

Just an FYI that I thought was interesting. My DH is deaf and could not do any of the experiences where he drove the car (they would not allow him to) so he did the ride-along. When he was speaking with the one of the drivers (who drive the cars in the ride-along) he was told that they are allowed to go much faster than those who do the actual "driving" since they are pros. DH's car was going well over 100 mph according to them so that would be faster than the drivers get to go.
