Need Help With Printing Digital Camera Photos

I am having a small problem printing images from my Sony P9 digital camera. The pictures come out o.k except for a 1/2" white stripe on one end of the picture. It is not a border as it is only on one side of the photos. I bought a HP245 direct printer figuring it was a problem with my larger printer but I still get the same white stripe with either printer.

Can anyone help me?

I sometimes get that with my HP6110 Printer using the Microsoft Picture It software.

I set the paper selection to borderless printing and make sure the Fit to page box isn't checked. That usually fixes the problem.

Digital cameras have a 4x3 aspect ratio. Typical photos have a 3x2 aspect ratio. This means that you have to either crop digital photos when printing them on "standard" size paper, or you have to put up with the white strip.

This is very similar to the problem showing movies on television sets. A typical television has the same 4x3 aspect ratio while most movies (and high definition TV) have a 16x9 aspect ratio. That's why widescreen movies often have a black bar at the top and bottom of the screen in order to pad out the 16x9 image to 16x12 (which is the same as 4x3).

Yeah, totally confused, however in theory, I basically understand what you are saying. I tried it again last night on my new HP245 printer(love the printer) and even resizing the photo image on the camera did not help. So, what you are saying is cut off the white stripe and be happy with the nice picture I have left over. The quality of the prints are excellent, it's just that darn white stripe.
