I want to try the online check in tomorrow. I bought a halfprice seat for my 20 month old. Will I be able to use on line check in for him. Or do I have to check him in at the airport. I would think they would want proof that he is under 2.
Anyone ever try to use online check in with a child under 2.

This is purely a guess on my part, but I don't think you can purchase tickets for infants under 2 on the website. So, I don't think on-line check-in would be available in your situation. But please let us know if you hear differently!

I didn't purchase the tickets online because I wanted a half price seat for my little one.
I'm going to try and do the on line check in. I have a feeling it won't work.
I've heard some horror stories about long waits at US air counters. I'm flying out of Philly, and it's usualy bad there with waits.

Do you have seat assignments already? If yes, if online check-in does not work, you can get boarding passes at either curbside check-in or their self serve kiosks. Both usually have shorter lines than the regular counter. If you don't have seat assignments, then it's more important to get online to work so that you can get seats assigned. If it doesn't work, I would call for assistance.

Yes, I do have seats assigned. But in the past I've had assigned seats that were changed on the boarding pass. The last time we flew they separated everyone in my party. This has only happened when the flight was sold out and oversold. I know my flight Friday is sold out!

Philly is my "home" airport too and you are right - it is often a madhouse at the USAirways check-in line. Early check-in or kiosk check-in at the airport is so much easier, especially with children in tow. It is worth a try. There is nothing on the site that prohibits checking in on line when infants are involved (none that I saw anyway). I agree it would be a huge help!

And given the recent labor issues with the airline, I don't believe things will improve any time soon. I once waited in line close to 2 hours and barely made my flight. And I've had my seat changed numerous times as well. Those are just some of the reasons I switched over to Southwest and I'm trying to convince the rest of my family to do the same. USAirways, in my opinion, has not been customer-service oriented for some time. I can shake off the odd incident, but it seems to have become the norm in recent months. It is sad that they don't seem to realize that this drives customers away.

A friend of mine recently waited in line at the Philly US air terminal for 30 minutes. There were only 2 people in front of him. He told me that the agent was moving real slow. The line behind him was huge. I plan to get there early, and I just really hope I can check in online.

We also fly out of Philly airport to go Orlando. We have a 22 month old and we always order the tickets over the phone and then use the self-check in kiosks at the airport. There is usually no line or a little line at the kiosks. There are USAir attendants assigned to check in the luggage at the kiosks. These attendants also have the ability to print out boarding passes for you if there is a problem with the kiosk and answer questions that you might have. We have gone 4 times this year and they have never asked for ID for our son who is almost 2 years old and pretty tall for his age.

Have a good trip.

I just want to let you guys know that I tried the on line check in and it worked fine. No problems checking in with a child under 2 either. So I printed my boarding passes and we are good to go for Tomorrow morning.

It was very easy to use online check in. I would recomend it.

Be sure to use curbside check in for your luggage and you can walk past the long line of folks waiting to check in for their flights. :)

I'm trying to only carry on this trip. Since its only for 5 days, it won't be that hard. I've heard about lugguge delays with US Air, so I really want to carry on.
So I guess I go directly to the gate. Is that the case?

Deneen

If you only have carryon and you have your boarding passes, you can go directly to the gate. Be sure to check the maximum sizes for carryon on USAir's site.

I have the little suitcases on wheels. I think they are called pilots cases. Are these good for carry ons?

If you are trying to handle a little one and your luggage it would be easier to check your luggage. No need to lug it all around the airport. Luggage arrives quickly at MCO.
