We are planning on going to DW in May. Unfortunately after figuring out our finances, we are definitely trying to economize. We have lowered our expectations to 1 day at Magic Kingdom, 1 day at Animal Kingdom, and 1 day at Universal. We plan on staying 6 nights. My husband and I are taking our 5 yr old son, who has never been on a plane never the less to FL. And my parents will be coming with us. Well all that to say, where is the best place to say -- we want it clean and comfortable, decent place to hang out on our off park days, but a good deal. We do have a relative that lives in FL, can she help us get resident discounts? Any help that anyone can give me would be greatly appreciated. I go into information overload when I try to look all this up. Thanks!!

We are staying at the Cypress Pointe Resort which is in the Lake Buena Vista area, not too far from Downtown Disney. My MIL is coming with us (otherwise we are a family of 4, 2 adults/2 kids) and we wanted some extra space, as well as kitchen and laundry facilities in the unit...so we are getting a 3 bedroom for about $100 per night (tax incl.). You'd be hard pressed to find 2 regular, nice hotel rooms for that rate. Check out the threads on this board about CP and see what you think. Hope you have a nice trip!

Just a suggestion....

We have used Priceline a couple times in Orlando for rooms...The money saved helped us afford the little extras we couldn't have afforded aotherwise.

Check out biddingfortravel.com to get great info on PL bidding strategies.

Local Girl's suggestion is also a great way to save on nice accommodations...We also stayed in a 3br/3bath timeshare rental last December and loved it.

hope that helps...

you might try renting dvc points as an alternative an staying at one of the dvc resorts for three or so days (sunday-thursdays are cheapest) you can get more info on the DVC thread on the boards and the priceline idea is good also, you could also consider going to one of the beaches for a couple of days this is something we enjoy and is relatively cheap and splitiing the stay always adds a little adventure as well. Hope this helps have a great vacation :cool1:

your relative must be with you at check in. If she is tell her to look at the Disney's value resorts - Pop Century, All stars (there are 3).

she could probably get you a deal for $59 a night - that will beat all but the cheap places offsites. does not sound like you want a cheap place.

I would also reconsider your WDW plans - with the new tickets - the longer you stay at WDW the better the deal.

in your situation I would only buy the tickets - no extras - but I would buy it for 6 days - no US/IOA this trip.

she does the best job of explaining the different options that I have send - so read this link
