Need help with last minute change to MYW package

We are leaving in two weeks. My DD, age 20, just informed us that she will not be going with us. We are on DDP with 1 day base tickets. I called CRO about taking her off the ressies and asked how the refund would work. They told me there is a $50 fee to change the ressie and if I change it now they will credit any amount to the credit card they have on file. They also told me that if I wait and change it at the resort, they can leave the refund balance on file as a credit and I can use it for charging anything and I am assuming I can use it to upgrade our base ticket to 4 day hoppers.

Has anyone changed there package like that at the last minute at their resort and used that credit for charging privileges and if so, how did it work out? Will they put that balance on my room key? I'm a little worried about that because if my DDP is also on my key, I don't want any mix up of them ringing up my DDP purchases mistakenly against my credit balance and not against my dining credits.
Should I just cancel her off the ressie now and just have them credit my CC?

I would cancel her now.

My thinking is, check in takes long enough - do you really want to be standing there having to wait while they do the extra work while they remove your daughter from the reservation?

If you cancel her now, and something's not done right, you can handle when you check in.

If you cancel her at check in, and something's not done right, you'll need to handle it in the middle of your vacation.

I would also say do it now. I would just want to know that it was done and over with before I arrived at my resort.

By the way, our 20 year old daughter decided not to go with us to WDW this past June (I've already been 11 times!) She called us several times every day to find out what we were doing. She really wished she had come.

Oh dear. That is my fear; that my DD will regret her decision. She has been with us on every WDW trip since she was 6 yeas old and now she is flexing her independence and doesn't want to go with us. It will be very strange without her. I can't imagine going on rides and doing the goofy things we do without her. I will try to have a good time with just DH but I know it will be different and I will be worryig about her back at home.

This is why I asked about waiting until we arrive to take her off the ressie. If she does my some miracle change her mind about going when it gets a little closer to our departure date, she still has the option of coming along.
Being a parent isn't easy, is it?

It was so weird going to WDW without our daughter. My 10 year old son was so used to riding things with his sister.

We are a bunch of goofy people and we loved spending time together as a family.

Every year, we came up with different pictures ideas. One year, we took pictures of us posing on each and every bench we came to. Another year, we took pictures of us standing in from of every bathroom sign we came to. (The signs are cool since they are themed for each of the different lands. Like the ones at Rock 'n Roller Coaster have the person holding a guitar. The ones in Fantasyland say Prince and Princess. Etc. Etc.)

When we came back this June, it was sad to see the pictures with just us.

We did have a really good time though and I am sure you will too!
