DH's parents are divorced and remarried. I need to buy Christmas presents for both sets. Each have almost anythign they would ever want. I have no clue what to buy them anymore. Alcohol is not an option for either set. I really have no clue what to buy them this year.

We have the same situation with hubby's family. We are getting both a gift certificate for dinner at a nice restaurant.

We give our parents (4 sets due to divorce and remarriage) family photos. An 8x10, couple of 5x7s and a couple of wallets make a nice gift.

My grandparents have everything they want/need, as well. I am planning to get them a movie gift pack or a gift basket & certificate to Trader Joes (one of their favorite stores.) www.ediblearrangements.com also has some really neat fruit arrangements that I might send as well. Good luck :earsgirl:

Both sets of parents get gift baskets from Harry & David from us. My parents are in the process of selling their house and don't need more "stuff" cluttering it up. My ILs already have more clothes than they'll probably wear (both are in their 80's) and they appreciate any edible gifts. MIL hates to leave the house for anything, so dining GCs are totally out.

Gift baskets
Omaha Steaks
gift cards to Lowes/Home Depot
gift cards to Target - you can get anything there.

I'm doing gift certificates to resturants too. I feel bad not walking in the house with large presents-(isn't that sad), but they buy everything they need also.

I'm also getting a gift certificate where my fil buys his bird food..

Did I mention I hate this forced giving-it is ridiculous.

We get my parents SinplyCertificates - our local mall sells them & they get to chose where they would like to eat. It is great.

with heating prices skyrocketing this year, how about a gift certificate to use to pay their heating bill? (of course, only if you live in an area where you will be actually having to run heat.)

I see you live in NC, if they do too maybe you could get them something like a weather radio or flashlight? My mil lives in NC and I got her a Jeep emergency flashlight/radio with a siren and spotlight for hurricanes. I bought one for my family, too!

I'm also debating whether to get her a Southwest GC or a spa GC.

I did this an added a Kidstuff book (similiar to an entertainment book) so it "stretched the certificates" and DD's school made money as well. I than felt it was a more substantial gift

Mall gift certificates are great! I don't know if you have a mall owned by Simon, but they sell a gift card that can be used at all of the malls that they own throughout the country. It is really great because they can buy what they want from any store in the mall. I bought one for a friend who was graduating from college and it is a great idea (especially for people who have everything!)
