We are visiting WDW Feb 15-22 staying at the Contemporary as part of a group conference my DH is attending. I plan on visiting WDW parks 16-19. I am going to get 3 four day hoppers for me and DS15 and DD12. My husbands conference goes from about 8 am until noon each day. DH is eligible for a special at 2pm or after 4 pm ticket as a conference attendee. I have our itinerary down so I know which parks we will be at when we gets out of his sessions at midday. We'll also have cell phones if something comes up.

Here's my concern. The parks are going to start to get more crowded the closer we get to Pres Day. I'm afraid that the lines will be horrendous after 2 pm and no Fastpasses will be available. I thought about getting FPs for him in the morning that have return times later in the afternoon but I'd have to have his ticket to do that. I thought I could take his ticket, get the FPs, and then meet him at the gate. Does anyone have any other ideas or have you had similar situations? How did you handle it?

I think I read they you can only get FP for tickets that have been activated at gate entry.

I wonder if an FP would work on a hopper ticket that hasn't been through the entrance gate for that day? Sorry I'm not more help...

If you are getting FP for just him, and not for all of you, you don't need his ticket- any ticket will do. If you want to get a FP for each of you, then you would need his ticket. Do you and your kids have hoppers? You could arrange to meet him at the entrance/exit at a certain time, and just give his ticket to him.

Oh, wait!! I just thought of something- that might not work. His ticket would have to be activated at the main turnstiles to work in the FP machine, I think- and you won't be able to activate his ticket without him present. IF his ticket doesn't require the bio-scan you MIGHT be able to get in the gate using your ticket, go right back out, and re-enter using his- but that is lots of hassle, and might not work.

I just got back from a trip with my extended family and there were a couple of times that we gathered tickets to get fast passes, even when some of the members of our group hadn't made it to the park yet. When you've got 7 adults, it's hard to get everyone moving at the same pace. There were two mornings where those of us that got up and out quicker than everyone else took tickets and got fast passes to Soarin and another day to Peter Pan. When the stragglers showed up an hour or so behind us, I simply exited the park with my ticket and theirs... then we all entered the park together with our own tickets. Our fast passes were always for MUCH later in the day, so we might not have gotten one at all if we hadn't worked it that way.

Keep in mind the "only one fast pass at a time" rule. You aren't supposed to be able to get a new fast pass for a different ride until your current one reaches five minutes past the earliest time stamped on it... so it's not like you'll be able to run around and get a bunch of fast passes for anyone... only one... so make it count!

Even if you COULD get the Fastpass machines to vend for an unscanned ticket (which you CAN'T), it is going to be a tough thing to gather more than say, 3 FP sets before he actually arrives. The machines (for the most part) will not let you get a FP for more than one ride within an hour of each FP given (they are all connected to the same computer so they "know" what other FP machines have issued).

i.e. If you can get FP(s) for Splash Mountain at 9am, then the FP machines should (in theory) not let you get another FP for say, BTM until about 10am (and so forth). There are exceptions, but don't COUNT on them.

But again, if his ticket is not scanned (and it wouldn't be as it is a "special 2pm ticket") this whole idea is MOOT (unless one of you who arrives in the AM decides to split-off and not ride any of the FP attactions after your DH arrives.)

It sounds like he has a special convention ticket (like entry after 4:00 or so). If that is the case, even the ticket went through the gates earlier in the day if would probably be rejected as invalid(although I'm not an expert on this). If that is not the case, it still won't work as the ticket must go through the turnstiles before fastpasses can be obtained and he won't be there for the biometric scan.

But, what if he's just had a recent MRI ?

What kind of "pass" will that get him?

:teeth:

When I went in June...I hopped to another park with my 3 kids and wife's tickets ahead of them...the CM at the turnstile logged the tickets in for me so I could get a fastpass for them before they got there...again this is totally up to the CM...Be Nice.

OK. I'll bite.

How would this work?

Let me see...

You mean you LATER met the rest of your family at the entrance gate and they then came in "again" (as far as the tickets were concerned) on the same day using their tickets.
This would be pretty easy to do, but only IF the CMs were willing to be "in on it".

It would not be illegal, but a bit of a hastle to try to COUNT ON.

BUT, the OP's problem is that the DH would not HAVE a "regular" admission ticket in this case, HIS (conventioneers') ticket could not be VALID until after 2pm (at least) so this particular scheme wouldn't work.
