Need Help with how/what to ask for Trade

Please forgive but I'm hoping an expert here can help me with that I need to ask for.

I have a BVC membership with a March use year.

I'm trying to make a reservation for my sister in law for Feb 2013.

I am in need of more points to do this.

If I can get a transfer..I'm assuming I need BVC points with a Feb or later use year? correct? or at least ones that don't expire before Feb..

Or will the points just take on my contracts characteristics.

I recently asked a similar question. Here is the simple answer: You take ownership of the points transferred, but the points don't change the current owners characteristics. The points retain all their usage parameters, but you now control them. So, if they are March 2013 points you could do a transfer and then borrow them, or if they are a February 2012 UY you could transfer and then bank them for use in THEIR 2013 UY. The points don't assume the usage of your points, they stay as is.

Make sense? I hope I didn't explain this wrong, this is how it was explained to me so I would hope somebody else can either confirm or clarify if I'm missing something.

So basically as long as they are BCV points and they aren't Feb 2012 or borrowed 2013 points that expire in Feb..I'm good ;-) I think. lol I'll never get these points rules right

If you want February, I don't think it's absolutely essential that they be BCV points. You could easily wait until the 7 month window to book with any points. I don't think there is a lot of issue with things filling up in February. We have made several reservations within 5 months of a February trip without any problems, and last year we even got a GV at OKW on fairly short notice for February.

Thats good to know...We are aiming for school vacation week in MA..(and maybe a few other states).. I was worried about that week you still think its okay? I didn't want the 8 month window to open and lose out...

Missyrose is correct on both counts.

DISNEYFOS - As long as the points you receive via transfer would be valid for the stay you want to use them for, use year doesn't matter.

For a February stay in 2013, you would normally use your 2012 use year points since you have a March use year. (Or you could use banked points from 2011 or you could borrow March points from 2013).

To book before the 7 month window opens using transferred points, you would need a transfer of BCV February 2013 points or a transfer of BCV 2012 points from any other use year. A February 2013 stay falls within in the 2012 use year for all use years except February.
