For the first time in 18 years, my DH and I will be going to DW without kids. We are in the process of chosing resorts. We will be there in Feb and want to stay in the Epcot area. The prices are all the same, so which one will be best for adults? We will be there from the 14-19 of Feb which will be part of the time the President's weekend crowd will be there - we are out for Mardi Gras, so that crowd will be there as well.

We plan on going to Pleasure Island at night as well as Jelly Rolls just relaxing. I would think the weather might exclude any pool time, but would like it if warm enough.

Any suggestions would be appreciated. I hope to make reservations Monday.

Thanks

Epcot Resorts for a couple with no children- here they are in the order I would use to make a reservation:

1. Yacht Club
2. Boardwalk Inn
3. Beach Club

Can't speak for the Swan/Dolphin hotels but both are extremely large, many stories high (lots of elevator time) and would appear to attract many families with kids as they are relatively cheaper than the three Disney-run resorts above.

I would say the Boardwalk for it has a great "quiet" pool. The dolphin is nice, and have only visited Beach club for the restaraunts. We love the Boardwalk!

I would double what Marksor said....

I have stayed at the Swan & was not crazy about it. While it is a nice resort, you don't have the Disney "Magic" if that makes any sense to you...;)

Boardwalk would be my first choice. Although, I just checked online and it doesn't show availability during that time. Of course, it could be available over the phone.

Have you thought about the Villas at either Beach Club or Board Walk. We go to Beach Club Villas every year in Jan or Feb. and love it. We also have always had at least one day nice enough to use the quiet pool and hot tub at the Beach Club Villas and there is never a crowd. Having a mini kitchen in a studio is nice, but the one bedroom's have a full kitchen and a whirlpool tub right next to the bedroom.

Our first trip away from the kids was spent at the Swan this February! We are already big fans of the S/D resorts so we knew we'd have a great time! The nightly rate at the S/D is often lower than the other Epcot resorts and they also offer discounts that the WDW resorts do not. (Teachers/Nurses/Gov't. discounts)

You'll still get to participate in EMH and share in the same WDW transportation system.

Since DH and I have been going without children, our favorite resort is now the Dolphin! Especially since it's been remodeled -- it's beautiful! The rooms are very nice, and those "heavenly" beds are to die for!

Even though it's not technically a Disney resort, we can get our Disney fix by going down to the gift shop in the lobby -- it's a typical Disney gift shop! :goodvibes

We think it has a more "adult" feel to it, and it's a wonderful place to escape to at night, to get away from the park feeling. And, it's right next to the Boardwalk--a nice walk across the bridge to Jellyrolls! :)

We have had multiple stays at all of the Epcot Resort locations. The Boardwalk is a favorite for my entire family. However, when my DH and I had our first opportunity to visit WDW for a weekend without kids this past September, we choose the Yacht Club. For some reason, this resort seems alittle more adult oriented to me in terms of atmosphere, and I believe that it is quieter then the other resorts. We had a great stay there, but really, we love them all and I'm sure you will have a great stay wherever you decide to stay.

Have a great adult-only trip:love:

I called to check and there is room at Yacht, BW and BC - all at the same price - no AP rates in Epcot area - so they are all the same there - can we request a King room? We have a water view available in all three - I would love to have a balcony - can it be requested too? Is there anything else I should know and request if possible?

Thanks

I've stayed at the Yacht Club and the Boardwalk Villas. I agree that the Yacht Club seems a little quieter than the other resorts, but wasn't cold or unfriendly (i.e., they weren't forcing guests to be quiet). The Villas were great because there were dryers (it rained a lot when we were there) and kitchen. However, for atmosphere the Yacht Club was my favorite. It's a longest walk from Epcot, but not that long.

We won't be there long - so will not need the kitchen or dryers - just comfortable room and nice - there is not availablity at Swan or Dolphin - I would have liked the heavenly beds.

Are the rooms updated in the epcot area? I heard that some of the BW rooms were updated, how are YC and BC?

Another vote for BW -

It is a much smaller resort...Flying Fish is downstairs...fresh coffee and pastries from the Bakery each morning on your private balcony...drinks at the bar each afternoon...short walk to Jellyrolls! My first BW trip was adult only (at rec. of Ducklite from these boards) and I've stayed there twice since. It is a WONDERFUL resort. If you can get a decent rate, the concierge level is IMHO the best at Disney. They simply bend over backward to meet your every need.

I would also recommend an Illuminations Cruise - it was one of the highlights of our "adult only" trip! Whatever you decide, HAVE FUN!!!:thumbsup2

I can vouch for the Beach Club. From the other posts I would say you can't go wrong with any of the 3 resorts. Shortest walk to EPCOT is from Beach Club and you can get a good water view room overlooking the Boardwalk.
A 2nd honeymoon there would not kill me!

My vote would be the Yacht Club. Have stayed there twice. Once in Concierge and 2nd time in Std room but the check in CM put is in a great ground floor room right at the marina. YC has the great pool and lazy river. Your room can be a long way from the lobby but we ask nicely to get as close as possible. The lobby area is beautiful and not as 'frantic' feeling as BC. I think BC feels that way because of all the activity going on at Cape May. Plus at the BC, many of the balconies are standing room only. No patio furniture and I definately enjoy by balcony! BC is farther from the boat dock but then if you want to walk it's closer to EPCOT.

Second choice would be BWI. Have stayed in a std room and in one of the studio villas. I didn't like the studio. The carpet seemed industrial just didn't seem as nice. The BW is decent but not the mini waterpark. We had a great room with a view of EPCOT fireworks (it was a STD level) but it was a long walk from the lobby.

I've also stayed at the Dolphin twice. I like it as a cheaper alternative but self parking is no longer free there so that adds to the cost if you have a car. There are fewer balconies and you pay more for those rooms. The rooms are very nice. But the last room we had smelled of mold. So if you stay there, if you smell something when you first check in, ask for a different room. The smell will not go away no matter how many times they come in and spray their deoderizer. On the upside the grotto pool is great and there are tons of resaurant and quick food choices right there.

Have a great trip!

Any of them would be great but I'd think the best atmosphere for adults is the Yacht Club. The Galley is great for breakfast!

Ok - I think we are decided on YC, now is there anything special we should request? I know that a request is not definite, but we really need a nice vacation - we housed seniors after schools opened after the storm and really had a houseful until colleges opened at the end of August. We even had returnees for these holidays. It will be an early anniversary present for us and a late Christmas as well - we both know we need this to get through the year.

We are going to ask for a king room, water view adding the dining option and plan on visiting Pleasure Island when we can.

Any suggestions?

Hi neighbor!!

I read this whole thread and just now saw that you're a New Orleanian. I know how you feel about needing this vacation. That's how we felt when we went for Thanksgiving this year. We had a lot of damage to our home and had to cancel our '05 Disney trip.

We stayed at BWI and loved, loved, loved it! We were given a boardwalk view room, which was not even requested - there was a lot of pixie dust flying my way I guess. Be sure and try the boardwalk restaurants, we went to ESPN twice, Spoodles for breakfast and dinner and Flying Fish - all were fantastic!:thumbsup2

I hope you have a great time!

My vote is for the Swan! We just returned today from our first Christmas visit and it was wonderful!!! I've never had such beautiful views while ever staying on Disney property until my stay at the Swan and as you can see it's where I now stay. We always have a beautiful Epcot view and I wake up to a "Disney feel" every day! Watching Illuminations from the balcony is another treat and just being able to walk over to Epcot or enjoy the Boardwalk activities is great. I wouldn't stay anywhere else!!
