Need help with DVC

I am taking my family to their "First Family Trip To WDW" I was thinking. I am looking and different deals and prices. What can I expect from DVC and where cn I get the points and prices for the different resorts? Sorry I am still new at this. I went on my first trip in Feb 2009 I rented Dvc SSR for a studio.

What hotel resort? and why?

Check the rent trade board for the prices various owners are asking.

Before that, you might want to go to the Disney web site and read up on each of the DVC resorts to see which meets your families needs best. Then go to the top of the DIS/DVC page and click on "DVC Point Charts" and look for the point costs during the dates you wish to travel in 2010.

You will need at least a 1 bedroom with 5 people, and if you wish to have each person have access to a bed, you will need either AKV or BLT. If you have a number of adults, I would reccomend a 2 bedroom and I'd think about either OKW for the extra space and the extra queen bed, or BCV dedicated 2 bedroom with two queens. Actually, I believe most of the other DVC that have dedicated 2 bedroom villas will also have 2 queens in the dedicated 2nd bedroom. Lock off units will only have the two beds at OKW. All other lock off 2 bedroom units will be a queen bed plus a double size sofa sleeper in that second bedroom. AKV and BLT will have a twin sized pull out "sleeper chair" in the living room in addition to the pull out queen sized sofa sleeper.

Finding the number of points you would need for the location and size unit you want will determine your price. Be sure you read all the "stickies" at the top of the rent trade board page before you post your needs.

On the Disney web site you can also ask for information on DVC. They will send a video and information kit as well.
