hi
i need some help- i don't want to follow a set diet (WW ATKINS etc) been there and worked short term for me-

just started traking my food on fitday yesterday and my fat ratio was ~55%, carbs ~35% andprotein ~10%.
:earseek:

i'd like to start eating a more balanced diet- does anyone know the guidelines- for % off each???

i'd like to loose 33 lbs  in a years time-
does any one know the formula to calculate what my calorie intake to loose weight at about 3-5lbs a month

I follow my own diet also. The formula I use, and I don't know where I got it, but it works is: to lose weight I eat calories that equal my weight multiplied by 10 to 12 (So if I'm 130, I eat about 1300 calories). To maintain, I eat calories that equal my weight multiplied by 13 to 15. I can usually lose a pound a week doing this. If I work out, I add more calories. Good luck!

Im not sure exact %s but I would def recommend upping your protein and lowering fats. If you exercise regularly I wouldnt worry about the carbs as long as they are fairly balanced.

I follow what I like to call my "shut my mouth and don't chew so often" diet. :teeth: lol

Basically, I'm choosing mostly healthy foods (gotta have a little choc., right? :D) and cutting down my portion sizes. I just started exercising also, so that should help A LOT!

I also input all of my food on fitday.com. I don't know what my percentages should be though, because I have a tbl. of flaxseed oil (outrageously good for you) with a tbl. of sunflower oil (this mixture is a good balance of Omega 3, Omega 6 and Omega 9's) on my salad at lunch. This doesn't happen everyday unfortunately but it should, as I should have a salad everyday.

But I don't know what to think of my percentages when I eat like this. For example, one day, when I thought I had eaten extremely healthy, eggs and one piece of ww toast for breakfast (with little butter), salad with flaked tuna and the oil/vinegar on it, banana or apple for snack, chicken breast, green beans and small potato for dinner. When I figured it on Fitday.com, it said 55 gms. of fat which was 44% of my total for the day. That seems high, but when I look at the KIND of fat I'm consuming, it's looks good. So it can be a bit deceiving. Does this makes sense to anyone??

I wonder if this is a good plan. I feel good when I eat that way and the scale goes down, so I guess I'm in the right ballpark.

What do you guys think??
