DD has requested a "cowboy girl" birthday party. She is asking for the new American Girl of the year, Nicki, for her birthday so she's kind of "in" to the whole cowgirl thing right now.

I bought her a pink cowboy hat today and a pink floral western shirt. I am going to take a picture of her for her invitation. I would love something creative to put on the invitation. Any ideas?

I am planning on Build-a-bear being the main part of the party. I will probably have the kids come back to our house for cake and ice cream and gifts. Any cute ideas for a cake or a game to play back at the house?

I am sure that there is someone out there more creative than me. I'd love any ideas that anyone has!

Thanks!

For the invite something like

"Yee-Haw ____is celebrating a Birthday.
Y'all come on down for some playing,
dancing and good old western grub! "

Or

Howdy, Partners, __________ turnin' ___, roundin' up her possee, and havin' a Cowgirl Jamboree, and YOU'RE INVITED!!!

Howdy Partners", _______'s turning ____ years old and we'er gathering up our favorite buckaroos to help us celebrate! ________'s Corral, date and time, Give us a holler at #.

Games

Boot Toss..if you have any cowboy boots and beanbags...make it like the old clown toss

Pin the tail on the horse or pin the badge or whatever

Galloping horse relay with those stick horses

For the cake anything from Toy Story2 with Jesse would work.

We did a cowboy theme once and the invitations were to come on over to the Circle G Ranch. Grub at 5:00, etc. It was summer and we had pony rides and farm animals. I have been to a party where they took a picture of the birthday boy dressed as a bad cowboy and made it into a Wanted poster. Then all the kids got little squirt guns and had to shoot their posters. They also played a snake rustling game and had to toss rubber snakes into a metal washtub. Have fun!

My kids went to a cowboy party last summer, they rented 2 ponies for rides, hid "treats" (candy, little favor toys) in blocks of hay for kids to find & fill their "goodie bags", gave out bandanas filled w/ more goodies, cake was the topography of a ranch w/ frosting horses - real cute.

We're in Kansas and her birthday is Jan 16th so the horse thing is probably out! We actually did that one year for my older dd's 5th b-day in early October and it was really cute. It is such a bummer when your b-day is at a time of year when the weather is so yucky!

The wanted poster is a good idea. I will have to look into doing that with her pics.

I'm going to look for some pink bandanas and sew them in to treat bags. That's a good idea!

ITA!!! DS's birthday is the 20th and DD is in July. Last year we were in WDW for his birthday, so we celebrated his half birthday in July with his big sis. It was great--he had a pool party! It worked out really well and we are going to do it again this year, but will have a small family party on his real birthday.

That's a good idea. My older dd has alway wanted to rent out the pool for her b-day (Oct. 1st) I might just let her do that (a little early obviously) and have Drew's party at the same time. I don't even care if we call it a "birthday" party. I'd be fine just letting them have their friends get together for a big bash and calling it done for the year. DD1 has hers right after school starts which is a pain of a time to have a party. DD2 has hers 3 weeks after Christmas which makes me feel sooooo guilty when I have the party because I know the last thing people want to do right after Christmas is spend more $$$ on toys!!

Yep. And in January we need absolutely nothing!!! But by summer, he will need new clothes and he will have matured enough that he is ready for different toys. On the other hand DD with the summer birthday was upset that she doesn't celebrate her birthday at school, so we solved that problem by letting the teacher know we will be celebrating her half birthday this year with her class.
