I have an AP pass that expires March and we are looking for a week which...has the fewest crowds possible and
when we are likely to get AP rates.
Weather is not important but we really prefer to AVOID heavy children traffic (we recognize SOME kids are OK...its DISNEY!!). We thought to go starting Jan1 for one week but that may no longer be feasible. Any thoughts???

We are heading down for the last week of Jan as we did this time this past Jan and it is great. The first week of Feb is also very good. Anytime from after New Year's Day through the second week of Feb is great just try to avoid the marathon and MLK Holiday Weekend if you want to avoid crowds.

We went the first week of Feb last year and plan to do the same this year. It is a nice time to go but BEWARE we will be there with our to kids. LOL

First week of Feb. was great last year and we are returning again this year. Watch out we have one in a stroller, LOL:)

Avoid holiday weekends and you should be fine. I wouldn't go the very beginning of Jan since there might be more people than normal from NY, even though I've heard the crowds clear out quickly.

I will there the end of January, but no stroller child, just my 11yo. He behaves nicely... ;)

On the other hand, I'm leaving the house in a few minutes to bring my 4yo to his swimming lesson in Olney, so prepare yourself now. He's noisy--the type of kid I would steer clear of... :teeth: We're in East Mongomery Village, not far from you, and I've bet you've heard him before! lol

We are trying to decide between Jan 21-28 or the Jan 28- Feb 5... does anyone know if in the past the AP rates extend into the first week of February? I would hate to save $20 on airfare for going the later week, but then loose hundreds in passholder discounts. Thank you for any information you may be able to provide!!!!

There were AP rates in early Feb last year.

We are going for our first trip the 1st week of January. I had no idea about the marathon. How crowded do the parks get? Thanks for anyones imput....
BTW we will be with our two kids... if you see us, run!!!;)

...I LOVE kids but just prefer to go during those non-kid, non-holiday times. Now, Tigger and Belle (my neighbor to the North in Montgomery Village) how are you managing to go to WDW in January with your 11 year old?? Is there a secret school holiday??Oh...and listening really hard, have not heard your youngster in Olney. I am sure he is charming! Thanks everyone for your input. When is MLK weekend??

We'll be there for the MLK holiday weekend (MLK day is Mon Jan 17). Frederick County adds two extra teacher workdays on top of the MLK holiday.

This is usually the week we go to WDW because there are three half days (parent-teacher conferences) and two closed days (teacher work day, Maryland state teacher convention) in Frederick County. The planes at BWI are full of Frederick DISers this week, whose kids are only missing three half days (during which there is no substantial work due to the conferences.)

We went the end of January and into the first week of February last year and it was wonderful. Going again the same time this year Jan 30-Feb 4. It'll just be us adults, me 46yo, my 80yo father and my 70something aunt & uncle. If you see a middle aged lady trying to keep up with three seniors on ECV's, that will be us!LOL::yes::

I'll have to admit when my DH and I went, sans children, a couple of weeks ago we enjoyed going at a low crowd time. There weren't many people, kids or adults. We have 4 kids at home, so we obviously like kids, but... ;)

We'd originally planned to go to WDW as a family the end of January since there had been two teacher in-service days planned, but then one of them was taken away when the calendar was adjusted. I have 2 high schoolers (freshman and senior) who really can't miss school and who don't exactly appreciate a family vacation so it was decided that they wouldn't go. I figure my son can miss 2 days of school and we'll have 5 days/4 nights at WDW. He's a good student, hard working, and an all around nice kid and he deserves the break. I'll be going with my 4yo in early December and meeting my sister and my mother (she's 81yo and it will be her first trip to WDW).

These annual passes sure are saving me $, don't you think??? :teeth:

Now if Olney can just get a Target I'll start going there more than Milestone! Afterall, you do have CA Tortilla...
