I need some help. I took a couple of years off scrapbooking, but started back this summer and have slowly been building up my supplies. For Christmas I got several sets of QuicKutz cookie cutter dies...but I don't have a QuicKutz machine and don't want to buy one. I have a Sizzix, Sizzix Big Kick and a Sidekick. I know that if I get the right adapter I should be able use my cookie cutter dies in at least one of my machines, but can't figure out where to buy an adapter and which adapter to buy. I guess I really need a 4x4 adapter since I have the nesting flowers and one of them is nearly 4x4. I've gotten so far out of the loop, that I'm lost. Can someone point me to the right adapter?

I also have a question about foaming the cookie cutter dies. The nesting flowers came with two of the dies foamed and the others weren't. Is it really necessary to foam them? And if so, where can I find the foam I need?

Thanks

You would use the multipurpose platform with the Big Kick (all tabs closed). If it's a small enough to fit in the side kick you would need the black adapter which comes in a 10 pack. If you read this before midnight joann.com has free shipping with no minimum order thru 1/28/11 (code can be found on their home page) and the adapter is 30% off.

As for the foam, my take is you need it (ok it's very helpful to have it) for dies that have small cut outs. You usually find foam on the 2x2, 4x4, 4x8 alphabets, cookie cutter alphabets and smaller cookie cutter dies. On my very first quickutz purchase which was a 2x2 die I didn't know what it was for. Without the foam, the paper stuck in the die and was a bear to get out. After that I applied the foam. :) If the die is a shape with a larger open area then no foam is needed. If you need extra foam various places do sell it in various shapes.
