Need help surprising my dad

Since I have finally found a RN job, I want to take some of my newfound surplus money and surprise my dad with a week-long trip to Disney World. I've already decided to take him in August or September and will reserve it when the free dining plan deal comes out (or I'll just have to pay for a dining plan if they decide to discontinue that deal). The issue I'm facing is that he lives in Wisconsin and I live in Florida, so one way or another he is going to have to know ahead of time that he is coming down here.

Right now, my ideas are to either surprise him on Father's Day or plan a sort of decoy trip to Florida and downplay the Disney part (like suggest we only spend a day or two). The downside to the Father's Day surprise is that I won't be there to see his reaction in person. The downside to the decoy trip is he might figure it out or it won't be as big of a reaction because he will already know we will be spending a couple days there.

So, if anybody has any thoughts or ideas, I'd greatly appreciate the help. Thanks!

First of all, is your Dad retired? Second, does he enjoy WDW?

Even if you can answer both questions in the affirmative, I'd probably choose to surprise him on Father's Day, telling him the trip is for WDW and not for some other destination. With the current reality of having so much pre-planning of attractions with FP+, ADR's if you have the DDP, etc. it would be good if both of you are on the same page logistics-wise way before the actual trip.

Does he have a computer? Is he able to Skype with you when he finds out the surprise on Fathers Day? That would be a good option!!!

He's not retired, and he LOVES Disney World as much as I do! :) We are both very much on the same page in regards to attractions and dining, so he would love any FPs and restaurants that I pick. He usually lets me do most of the planning anyway when he pays for the trip. Lol I'm also going to surprise him with a meal at Fulton's. He's always wanted to eat there. The biggest thing is giving him enough notice to take off of work.

He does have a computer, but he's not good enough with them to Skype. To be honest, I've never used Skype before, so I'm not sure how to use it.

You need to tell him sooner than later so he can plan his time off of work.

Can you do facetime on your iphones/ipads?

Otherwise, you can mail him a box with some disney gifts and a video or note explaining what's going on...put a note on the exterior of the box for him to call you before opening so you can at least hear his reaction over the phone?
