Ok, I really need help...My DSIL is looking to buy a trailer(rv) Well I found one on Ebay the other day. It was perfect I mean the perfect price right in her budget. It was a 2006 Wildwood 31QBSS 33ft with double bunks and a queen bed. Now here is the problem...tell me what you think...

The guy is asking a BIN price of just $7800.00....that's right a 2006 for 7800.00??? I thought for sure this had to be a typo??? So I e-mailed the seller and said what is wrong with the trailer, is it a typo why are you selling it for so cheap...I researched, they go for at least $13000.00 (and thats at the cheapest) He e-mailed me back...I will just post what he said.,..

Hi,

Before we go ahead,in case you are still interested, some words about
the trailer: the 31 QBSS floor plan is a great layout. The entry is centrally located with a queen island bed in front. The living room is in the center with a super slide that is three feet deep. The bath is located on the opposite side of the slide. This unit has an optional feature with either four bunks in back or with a king bed and two bunks above. This is a brand new trailer.I am selling it because i have to go in Iraq.

Price is $7800.00 ($2500.00 prior to shipping, the balance after you
receive and inspect it).The trailer will be shipped from Elmira,NY on my
expenses by DAS.I will support the shipping costs and insurance, shipping
will be door to door. The transaction will be closed only through eBay, in
this way we will both be protected. 30 days money back guarantee .If
this is the trailer you are looking for and if you agree with these
conditions let me know and i will set up the transaction through eBay.
Thank you
Ken

If you wanna see the photos, let me know.

So my question is what would you do??? Doesn't this seem to good to be true??? PLEASE HELP!!!!!

Isn't there some middleman service where you give the money to them and then they release the funds upon inspection or they don't if you return the item to seller. If so that is the only way I would do it.

Here is an updated e-mail from him... I asked him for a phone number because my DSIL needs to ask a couple questions to get the approval from the bank but he didn't give one...

Hi ,

if your sister in law is decided to purchase it, we can go ahead.I would like to
close this deal through ebay because in this way we are both
protected.eBay will handle this transaction for us and in this way
we'll be both protected. All my transactions are closed through ebay.
Title is clear,no lien. The trailer will be shipped from Elmira, NY
on my expenses,i will support the shipping costs and insurance, you
will not be responsabile for the shipping costs, etc.Shipping will be
door to door,to your home address,it will take no more than 6
days, somebody must be home when the trailer arrives to sign for the
reception. The title and the bill of sale with owner manuals
,etc..will be together with the trailer. So once you get the trailer ,you
will receive the paperwork.DAS is the only shipping service recommended by ebay.
To set up the transaction through eBay,i need the following details:

1.You full name.
2.Your full shipping address (i mean where to ship the trailer).
3.Your ph# - i need this # for the shipping service.
4.Your fax#-so i can fax you the shipping receipt and other papers
regarding the shipping.

After set up the transaction, you will be contacted by ebay with all
the transaction details, payment&shipping instructions, etc. If you are
approved by ebay to purchase the trailer, you have to follow their
instructions.

Thank you
Ken

What would I do?

Personally, I would never spend that much money on anything without
seeing it and inspecting it first. I think I would also want at least a 30 day Warranty.

If it is that good of a deal, perhaps it is worth the drive to check it out.

I have to agree with this. Even if she does buy it, she should use Ebay's escrow service for the purchase. Something isn't right if he won't give his phone #.

It sounds fishy to me. If the guy really is going to Iraq, the military will pay to store his trailer for him, he doesn't "have to" get rid of it.

Email him again and ask for a scan of the title, and tell him there will be no deal unless you get his phone number. If he won't give it for the sake of a $7800 transaction, he is not legit.

"Going thru Ebay" doesn't really offer you a whole lot of protection. All Ebay can do is kick you off Ebay - and scammers just find a way to get a new user ID and get back on.

I buy and sell on ebay all the time, but nothing in amounts this large.

What's the item number? I would be happy to check the auction out and tell you what I think.

Okay - I saw a listing for a 2004 Wildwood trailer - not as large as the one you describe - going for $16,000.

There is no way your transaction is legit. The seller could take the trailer to a dealer and get better than $7800 for it.

Tell him you want to see the trailer. Elmira isn't that far from NJ and I would never buy anything site unseen. I once was looking at a trailer on Ebay and it turned out to be a scam but we also bought a car from ebay and never had to pay anything till we looked at it. My DH flew to Ill. and then paided after seeing it. Does he have alot of feedback? See what he says when you say you can come and see it in person.

I was thinking the same thing. If it's not too far, drive up there to check it out.

What bothers me is that he would not give his phone number. Ask again for his phone number, that your DSIL would like to make arrangements to see it in person. Heck, even make up a story that DSIL will be in the area on X day and would like to see it then.

If he replies like last time and dances around and doesn't give any contact info, then forget it.

I tried to search for the auction and only found one Wildwood camper within 200 miles of Elmira, NY -- in Rochester, for a 2001. I wonder if it's a moot point and the auction was pulled because eBay caught a scammer.

This is what I found. The guys username is guylands and he has over 4000 feedback with only 8 being negative.

This listing (4577321807) has been removed by eBay or is no longer available. Please make sure that you've entered the item number correctly.
If the item was removed by eBay, please consider this transaction canceled. If anybody contacts you to complete the sale, please ignore the request. Completing the sale outside of eBay may be unsafe and will not be covered by eBay purchase protection programs.

Interesting. His location on other recent auctions states he is in Texas as well. Sounds like something fishy was going on. Why blow a 4200 feedback on a scam though? Weird.

Right....I really do not know what to do. My DSIL is sooo excited now about this trailer and I just don't want her to get scammed....UUUUGGGGHHHHH

It sounds like a legit seller had his account hijacked. There are a lot of "phishing" scams out there - emails that try to trick you into revealing your ebay ID and password. I get them every day in my in box.

Then the scammer uses someone else's ID to list something, collects the money and vanishes, and the real ebay seller is left holding the bag.

Looks like ebay has it sorted out though. Consider yourself lucky, this was definitely going to be a scam!

No, he means he pulled it because it was a scam and you were asking too many questions. Please take the advice you have been given and run from this auction. It is a scam and your SIL will get taken for $2,500.

I agree. Run, run, run!!!! I'm a longtime eBay seller myself and I've heard all about the scams and hit and runs. Trust me, this is one of them!

ok...how about this is this legite????????

I am the seller of Trailer Super Clean 29' Springdale BunkHouse Slide Out ,Item number: 4576038497, and I've just been contacted by the eBay staff who informed me that the winner of the item I sold, withdrew his bidding and was rejected due to security reasons (either failed to follow through on the purchase commitment or outright refused to do so). The eBay policy automatically proclaims you to be the winner by default. Nevertheless, I need your agreement on this so I may contact eBay to confirm you the winning position, otherwise I'll relist the item. I am sorry for the inconvenience, but I need an answer asap. Your last auctioned bid prior to being outbid is taken into consideration. If interested, please email me at: MobileSKTrades@aol.com by including your eBay user ID and Item Number you bid on, to have it officially sealed through eBay. Our transaction will be performed only under eBay's rules and instructions, no exceptions.

This is an e-mail from ebay.
