I had Ohana scheduled for our arrival night, but we've eaten there quite a bit and with the new menu changes I would like to try something differet....

preferably at a resort....I really don't want to rush up to WDW, check in and then head to a park....

places I've ruled out....Chef Mickey and 1900 so far...

any suggestions?

There will be 4 of us....2 A and 2 kiddo's!

where are y'all staying? depending on the ages of the children, whispering canyon cafe might be a good/fun choice. how about some place at DTD? earl of sandwich is good, as is wolfgang puck express. :earboy2:

we are staying at Pop in October...maybe we should eat at the food court and just hang by the pool....:)

My goodness! There are so many to choose from!

I'd vote 1st for Whispering Canyon at the Wilderness Lodge. Good food and an excitable atmosphere for your first night. It would really get you in the mood for being at WDW.

My second pick would be Boma at the AKL as long as you could get there early enough in the day to see the animals.

3rd pick would be Beaches N' Cream at the Beach Club. Good old American food with Killer Ice Cream! If that weren't enough they have an arcade right next door for the kids before or after your meal. Please keep in mind it is rather small and you cannot make ADRs at this restaurant. Get their a bit early if possible.

4th pick would be Spoodles at the Boardwalk Resort. We love the Cast Members who come out during the evening on the Boardwalk to do their acts. It's a big hit with all the kids in the area.

getting to any resort from pop could be a bit of a pita... unless you take a cab (and if you are, you might consider any of the restaurants in the boardwalk/beach/yacht/swan/dolphin hotels/areas)... i know for me/my kids if we were to take a bus to a park and NOT go in, on our first day after all the anticipation of getting there, well, they'd kill me! so better to avoid the gates all together, kwim? that being said, downtown disney has a few fun options as someone else mentioned... rainforest cafe? fultons? earl of sandwich? or eat a light meal at the food court and go downtown for ice cream at ghiradelli!

another thought, only because we had our BEST meal of the trip there, is to go to dtd by bus, and take the boat to PORiverside and have an outstanding dinner at Boatwrights followed by a carriage ride, then boat back to dtd and grab the bus... although for me, that would be too much travelling for dinner after travelling all day... ergo, i'd either go to a park or stick to the food court/pool plan :)

Sometimes we like to go to Boma our first night, but DH loves it and gets excited about it.

One more thing, GO GATORS!! I'm excited about having Urban Meyer!

Take a trip over to the Boardwalk and go to ESPN. Depending on the age of your children it could be a great trip. Every game that is being played that night is on a TV. They also sometimes have live call in shows there. If there is a play off game it's the place to be.
The Boardwalk also has lots of entertainment at night; Magicians, strolling musicians, etc. Have your fortune told and try the Carnival Games. There are Surrey Bikes for the family to take a trip around the lake (about .8 Miles) or you can just go for a walk around. This is one of the best people watching spots. Boardwalk Sweets is a great place for an after dinner ice cream, or you could walk over to Beaches and Cream at the Beach Club. If you don't feel like a sit down dinner there is Pizza at Spoodles take out window. There is an Arcade at both ESPN and near the Pool at Boardwalk.

Whispering canyon is lively and if you aren't doing any parks would be nice(we went after a day in the parks and my family found it a bit too noisy--they just wanted to relax.) The boat ride over is very nice also and the kids can feed the ducks at the dock. There are pellet food machines-I think only 25 cents

We enjoyed Concourse, but my children are 11.13 and14.

I'd love ESPN...and may try that - I hate that you have to wait to get tables and fall is pretty bad...it would be fine waiting with just DH and I but two little ones are pretty impatient.

ufgator! - we have season tickets so we'll be up there tomorrow! The stadium was PACKED last week - I miss Spurrier, but I think Urban will get the job done...Gator Nation is a very demanding one!

Hi!

If you do decide to stay at Pop for dinner (I love POP and the food court!) I would definitely recommend the Mom's Night Off Fried Chicken, if it is the night for it. It is very good!! I see you've been at Pop before so you may know this already! hehe!

Mike :)
