Need help - merging, morphing, whatever it is called!

We are trying to do the invitations to DS's Birthday party. It is a jungle theme so we thought about taking his face and merging it with a lion's face. Not sure what this effect is called nor how to do it. Anyone have any suggestions? Also, if anyone has a good photo of a male lion's head I could use, I would be most appreciative.

Well, I've done it with Photoshop, but I'm sure there's software out there that does just this.

Don't know anything about it but the samples on the page look like what you've described.
