Need Help... Looking to Add Points Resale

We currently own 250pts at PVB and thought that was more then enough but now with traveling 2-3 times a year with stays being 5-9 nights long... we found its not.

I am looking to add something under 100pts, but trying to find a balance between economical choice vs something that is hard to get 7 months out (studios) vs the best resort options(location, pools, quality of rooms). I know the last is VERY subjective.
We absolutely stole our PVB contract last year with a cost per point per year around $10.65 so I know getting that good of a deal is slim.

We love the PVB and the only other resort we have stayed at AKV and weren't huge fans (thought we would love it). We love transportation that isn't just busses.

Been looking at:
CCV (economical) but don't love transportation.
BWV and BCV but not a economical choice with highest cost per point per year.
BLT or VGF but isn't too hard to book and location wise isn't too much different then poly (other then walking to MK being closer)
PVB but this is just adding on and not helping us at other resorts.
OKW(2057) or SSR for adding more points for less money but they are always available plus only busses.

If thinking that I should diversify my location BWV or BCV is the way to go...BUT is it worth the cost for only 17ish more years. My wife and I are in our 30s with 2 kids under 5 so whatever we get we plan to hold onto!

Any advice is appreciated!

I too have 250 points but split between the Poly and VGF. We just added 100 a few months ago. I thought 150 wasn’t enough so I added more.

In a perfect world I would’ve bought at BWV but wasn’t crazy about the 2042 expiration date. For Riv it’s the restrictions. One thing that I wanted was another home resort with a studio that can sleep 5 because I too have 2 kids, 16 & 14 and opposite genders so I wanted 3 beds. Next resort I’ll be considering is the Riviera. We’re staying there in July for the first time but that was the other resort I was looking at when I bought my Poly contract. Fits the bill and it’s an Epcot resort.

I’d get more Poly points so you can get larger room sizes as your family gets older. One bathroom studios won’t do the trick forever.

After that, I’d go BC or BW because of being walking distance to two parks.

RIV restriction sucks. I have thought about buying direct but just so much more money. I have two boys and grew up sharing hotel rooms on vacation with my parents and sister. 5th sleeper is a bonus.

I think studios will do us fine for the next 5-7 years at least especially with the 5th sleeper in PVB. That's why I consider prioritizing another resort. BCV or BWV are two we like most but the 2042 is such a downfall.

I agree with that. 2042 would put my kids in there early 20s and by then me and DW might be doing some trips alone.

The only caveat to this is you know anything that you buy that has an expiration date past 2042 SHOULD still have some value once 2042 rolls around meaning you can still sell it for something if your kids decide they don't want to go any longer or you keep it so they can keep going.

Obviously if your main priority is just to get the best location possible for the next 17 years, BC and BW it is. You can even make the argument that if you really do love those locations, after they expire and your kids still want to go, just go ahead and re buy direct Boardwalk and Beach Club IF they're re offered.

With you being similar in age to us though idk, I couldn't help but be a little bit more value centric in terms of duration so that our earliest contract won't expire at least til my kids are in their 30s. I'm okay with booking 1BRs at Beach Club and Boardwalk with our resale points if we really want to stay there which have decent availability at 7 months. Even though it obviously costs more to get a 1BR, you're also getting more and I think we're going to end up getting them more often just because the in room laundry is very valuable to us.

I’d say definitely get BCV/BWV, and have both resorts areas covered, by the time they expire you can and probably will have added on to something new in that area or will add on to whatever those become… or will be glad for it to end.

I own 150 points at VGF and 50 at HHI and was looking to add as well. My situation was the same as yours (2 kids under 5, wanting to diversify locations)

I ended up adding 100 points at BCV: amazing pool, walkable to 2 parks, hard to get at 7 months.

I stayed at BWV on my most recent trip and really liked it, but the draw of BCV was so strong. Plus watching the people already be "home" walking out of the IG of Epcot and I still had a ways to go

I'll just echo what others have said: 16 years is a long time to enjoy any 2042 resort, and my kids will be 22 and 19 in 2042! Some "just the two of us" travel for me and the Mrs. will be nice (and I can always rebuy the shiny new BCV/BWV replacement if/when it happens)

I agree with this! Even BW Pool view is usually decent availability.

I would be more concerned if we spent a lot of time in the room. It is basically a place to sleep aside from one rest day that we are at the pool. So for the next 5-7 years I think together is fine and by then we will probably add even more.

This is the big perk for us. Plus having HS be walkable or even the short bus ride. HS became my sons favorite park this last trip.

You certainly have lots of choices. I have a hard time with the price of BWV and BCV but then again, they are not top choices for me as RIV and VGF take that honor.

But, if you buy them, it does give you both MK and Epcot area choices.

Another option is go with an SSR and then at 7 months use it, along with PVB to upgrade to 1 bedrooms if you can’t get a studio??

On a different note. If this is the case and I am trying to stay under $10k on a contract would it be better to add 100pts at SSR to use at 1BRs just about anywhere vs only being able to get another 50pts at PVB?

We have SSR points for this reason! I book RIv and VGF for home resort and then at 7 months, swap when I can as it allows my trips to be larger rooms!

This is something we definitely have kicked around as friends of ours have VGF and then SSR for the extra points.

I remember you, didn't you snag Poly for $110/pt, right before they started buying back all the deals? You've gotten a lot of great advice here. I will agree with the need to increase room size, it will happen sooner than you think. We are 5 and still do studios, but we're currently shopping more points for larger rooms. We love Crescent Lake and own a small BWV contract, but are trying Riv in a couple of months on a cash stay to see what we think. I hear you on the restrictions, but if we love it, I have no issues buying resale there and only staying there. We have SSR for SAP too, so you could easily go that route. And SSR rooms and property are very nice. It's just not a great place to stay with kids when you're doing a lot of park time from a transportation standpoint.

There are a lot of threads on this board with people upset that they can’t use their SAPs at 7m anywhere besides SSR and OKW.

I’m firmly in the “buy where you want to stay” camp and own 110% of the points you think you will need at a single resort to meet your travel goals before branching out to other home resorts.

With that said, my park warrior days are long behind me. Give me the resorts, EPCOT, 1/2 day at AK, and every other park as a hard ticket after hours and I’m a happy camper. Kids feel the same.

I would double down on more Poly. The 1B and 2B at PIT are really nice!
