I have one in my left heel for about six months, it flares up every so often, and wouldnt you know we are going to disney and just my luck it its staring to hurt again.I have been to the dr, had the most painful shot of cortisone ( it didnt really work) I have the orthotics to put in your shoe and i have been doing the streching excersies so what iam now looking for any home remedies? We are going to disney this friday and i was hoping that it would subsided by now!!

Besides losing 50 pounds by friday :lmao: anyone have any suggestions at this point i would try just about anything? :confused3

Ask your doctor about oral anti-inflammatories and pain killers to get you through the trip. :)

My mother in law puts a frozen water bottle on a towel on the floor then rolls her foot on it. That seems to help her. Stay away from the diving boards at the pool while on vacation......my mil jumped off ours and nearly drowned from the pain. :sad2: I love her but maybe not the brightest thing to do with a heel spur??

I've done the frozen bottle and also rolled soup cans while seated. seems to work OK for me.

I promise this is true. My MD told me to buy a pair of cowboy boots and wear them everyday x2wks, then as needed. My foot was killing me, so I would have tried anything. It really worked !!!! I was quite embarrassed to wear cowboy boots with my scrubs, but the pain went away almost immediately!
I had already tried rolling my foot on a ball before any weight was put on it in the AM, didn't work.

I feel your pain, literally. I've had plantar fasciitis off and on for about a decade, and I've found that very little helps except to wear your orthotics religiously, take ibuprofen for the pain, wear Crocs around the house as bedroom slippers (but they didn't do much for me in the parks, unfortunately, although others find they're very comfy for plantar fasciitis), and stretch in the a.m. before getting out of bed. My last bout with it lasted for almost 2 years before subsiding, and because I limped for so long, it caused pain in the ligaments and nerves of my opposite foot!

I switched to Brooks Addiction shoes. They fit my orthotics very well, and nothing stabilized my foot more for heavy walking.

Oh....I really do feel your pain....right now in fact! My foot is so inflammed right now too that I limp while wincing! I'm stretching & wearing orthodics in my New Balance sneakers that I wear almost 24/7 but the thing that gets me through a walking vacation (like Disney), is my Podiatrist (& actually my family doctor did this too one time when I couldn't get into my Podiatrist), gives me a script for steroids. I take them for a week & pain is long gone! Unfortunately about a week after I've finished the meds, that dreadful pain returns but it got me through walking 5000 miles at WDW! ;)

Unfortunately, my heel spur is right in the back of my heel where there are too many tendons so I cannot have a cortisone shot there but everytime I've gotten one of those shots, it has helped me tremendously. Immediate relief too, like within a day or two!

If the pain is really too much to handle for walking, ask your Doc about steriods for the vacation timeframe.

Good luck!
