I will be turning 50 this summer and the conversation came up today about a party. I said no, I would rather take a trip.....so I was thinking for a BD present, my family could spend the party $$$ on a trip to where else, WDW! I would like to go in Nov, since it is value season andI really can't stand the intense heat in July. Any suggestions for resorts, rates etc.? Any input would be much appreciated ! Thanks, Denise

It is my favorite month to be at the World. I turned 50 last year and we went in November to celebrate! The weather tends to be great with warm days and cool evenings. Although it can be unpredictable also. Hopefully the rates will be good. (we're going again this November). They have offered great codes and annual pass rates the past two years. Prior to that there really weren't many discounts offered at that time because you were already in value season. Let's hope for the best. We got 45% off last year with our AP's.

Which resort? It depends on what you like.

Last year we had a LV concierge room at the Polynesian. When we walked in the room my family (husband and three teens) were absolutely WOWED by the view. The curtains were open and you could see the castle across the lagoon. HUGH room! It is a wonderful resort. Very laid back, but with plenty to do.

BW, BC, and YC would be wonderful for the location. Parks close early in November. We spent most evenings at Epcot having a late dinner and enjoying illuminations or the Boardwalk. We stayed at the BC for a couple of nights last year before moving to the Polynesian. Didn't care for it. Too busy for my taste, like a downtown hotel, but the pool and location were great. The room was the size of a closet compared to the Polynesian.

AKL and Polynesian get my vote for deluxes. Love the relaxed atmosphere of both. Not as much to do at AKL, but having a taste of Africa right outside your balcony is awsome.

POFQ gets my vote for moderate because of its small size and quaintness. Boat to Downtown Disney is great for the evenings as well as Bob Jackson right next door at POR!

Well there's my two cents! Have fun planning!

November is a fantastic time to go to WDW!
The food and Wine festival will be going on til the 3rd week in Nov, and if you go later than that, you'll be there fo rht holidday festivities,

Nov is beautiful weather, and the crowds arent so bad at all!

I am not sure what resort you have in mind, but for a 50th birthday, I'd sugest an epcot resort!
Being on the boarwalk is the best! and walking distance to Epcot and MGM!

have a great time!!! :)

Hey Denise I will be turning 50 also and told my family the same thing.(my name is Denise and I'm from NJ too!) November is agreat time for WDW. We usually head down for Teacher's Convention although we are going to Universal this year for my Birthday in October. I would do an Epcot resort,we love the Boardwalk and Jellyrolls is alot of fun. The Swan and The Dolphin offer the entertainment rate, which is 50% off the rack rate. Whatever you do have agreat time and Happy Birthday :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

hi: another vote for an epcot resort! we'll be there the beginning of november doing a "ladies only" trip. the ability to sample all the goodies at the food and wine festival and just walk back to the room (hopefully burning off a few of the calories) is great. have a great birthday and enjoy!

We gave my youngest daughter a surprise trip to WDW last November for her 30th birthday. We spent the long holiday weekend (Patriot's Day) at the Swan and took advantage of the rate for teachers. She and two of her roomates are teachers. It was an adults only trip, and alleight of us had an awesome time. The Swan's "heavenly beds" are just that after a late night(or several) at Jellyrolls and the proximity to Epcot and MGM make it a perfect resort. Good luck with your planning but start soon, you can always cancel a reservation if a better rate comes up.

Thanks to all for your great suggestions. I'm going to start planning this trip ASAP. That's a big part of the fun! By the way, does anyone know when Jersey week is this year? My kids are out of school, so I no longer get the calendars. Also, how about Super Soap weeekend.?I'll try to avoid them if possible. Thanks!

Hi neighbor! The convention should be the 6th & 7th of November, so avoid that first week in November. I've been there, the last two years, during "Jersey Week" (I work in an elementary school and we have off all but Monday that week), and won't plan a trip this week again. It was too crowded for us. Super Soap Weekend should be the 8th & 9th, but I'm not positive on that. Good luck and have fun!:D
