Need help for budget gift for FIL

Okay, FIL is retiring and DH and I want to get him something for the party. We were thinking of a retirement survival kit or something. We want a mix of useful and funny gifts, but most of all we want it to be budget friendly (of course). Any ideas for what to include in the kit?

How about earplugs, cookbook (so he can take on more domestic responsibilities), ear hair trimmer, and TV guide.

I like the T.V. guide and ear hair trimmer ideas. He already does most of the cooking so that's out. Keep the ideas coming!
