I recently discovered my photo organizing software, Memory Manager, is possibly being discontinued in August. I am trying to find new software to organize my vast collection of pictures but I don't know where to start. The software doesn't have to be free I am open to purchasing software. Here are some of the things I'm looking for:

I want to be able to filter my photos by date taken within a certain category. For example I want to search for all dance photos taken in May 2013 and exclude all other photos from my search. I want to be able to change the date taken too in case the date is wrong.

I want to be able to tag photos so I can find them faster.

I want the ability to create my own hierarchy so I can organize my photos in logical buckets.

I want easy to use photo editing tools so I can adjust the color balance, contrast, crop, remove unwanted objects, etc...

If you have any suggestions please help me.

Thanks,
Diane

Adobe Photoshop Elements has a similar catalog system. It also has easy basic editing options as well as more indepth photoshop style abilities.

Lightroom is excellent image library management software with basic editing and RAW processing.

Thanks. I watched some videos on Lightroom and ended up ordering it. I think I may end up liking it more than my old tool.

I use LR for processing and simple edits, for more serious edits I use PSE.
LR is really good for organizing but you will have to put the work into it once you load your images into the library. Good luck :)
