For hanging your lights to the awning, what kind of hooks do you use?

I saw awning hooks and latern snaps on camping world but didn't know if you found something better... I'd hate to pay shipping for such a small item.

Ours have some sort of s hook to them, but I honestly can't remember exactly how they hook up. BUT..as we are setting up house in it for a week on Monday, I will know well when we get back!
I cant' WAIT!

Thanks. I have a regular string of lights that don't have hooks on them. I need to find a way to attach them to our awning.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Camping World carries clips made specifically for attaching lights to your awning. They also sell a rope light that comes with a spline that slides into a grove on the awning when it is fully deployed. This allows you to have a functional, generally lighting under your awning. Not really a decorative light, but supposedly good overall illumination. My wife gave me a set for Christmas in anticipation of our purchase of our camper. Unfortunately, the Zip Dee awning on our Airstream is made in such a way that the roller tube is encased in a sleave along the end of the awning with a valance attached to the sleave. This covers that groove in the awning tube and we can't use them so I will be returning them this week end while we are at Disney World near the Camping world in Kissimmee. I'll be applying part of the refund to awning clips for the indoor/outdoor Mickey Head lights we purchased at the DTD Christmas store on our June trip.

Do you normally attach them to the front of your awning or all 3 sides?

K'mart finally received my 3 other boxes. Depending on the above question, I may not need all these sets. Oh well, at least I'll have them as a back up or for ouside my house. They really are a cute style of lantern in silver/black (not the big plastic ones).

Matter of personal preference. I have seen them on all three sides, but mostly I see them only on the long side. We put ours on the long side only.

We just use clothes pins to attach our lights across the front of the awning ... it seems to work for us!

To hang our lights, we use the ones from Camping World that slide into the groove in the awning tube and have hooks. I like to start the lights out at the trailer and run it up the side rail, across the front and back down the other side.
We have a rope light fastened permanantly under the trailer that makes a nice light. Some times that is all I use if I'm being lazy and don't want to mess with a light string. :coffee:

A friend uses the really small clamps that Home Depot has, they are sort of like clothes pins. She clamps it to the fabric that hangs down on the front of the awning.

Thanks. I'll look at our awning and check out the clips from camping world. I'm so addicted to that website.

My wife says she can't find the ones that Camping World sells in the catalog. If you find them on line, could someone post the link. I'll look, too, but I may not be able to find them.

We have a Zip-Dee awning on our Airstream an the awning roll tube is in a sleeve in the awning material. Much the same as a window topper has a sleeve for the rod to slide through. This covers the "utility slot" so I can't use either of these two types of hooks. So far it looks like the only thing I will be able to use are binder clips from an office supply store that I can clip to the edge of the valance and have the lights hang from it. This is what we did over the 4th. It isn't the solution I would like to use pemanently because I'm afaid a strong wind would blow them off.

Other than that, I especially like those in the first link because you could roll them up in the awning after removing the hook. I think set up would be much faster with them.

Thanks again. Next week, DH is going to roll out our awning to do a minor patch/repair job. Then I will be able to see what we have. I might have to wait until I need something else since I don't want to pay huge shipping for such a small item. Guess I might be using clothes pins for Knoebels.

We have some LSU helmets and something else, we were looking on EBAY last night and they had some cute ones, so did Target. Remember, they don't put out much light. We have rope lighting and those big globe lights for around the awning for lighting. For the 4th, we have red white and blue bulbs for them, for halloween, they're getting orange and black bulbs...see a pattern?

My wife and I just bought our first travel trailer and were looking for LSU awning lights. In your description you say the ones you have don't put out much light. Would we need to add other lights to have enough light? Suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!

With the old trailer, we used the rope lights, this one, we use clear bulbs in our globe lights, and use the little LSU helmets for accent light. We're considering trying using them inside our screen house next trip. We just got back from a trip, but used red white and blue bulbs in our globe lights for this one.

Does anyone have the Mickey Paper Lanters thats for sale on Disney Outlet. Com. I'm interested to know how durabel they are? Would they be suitable for awning lights?
Thanks
