Hi all!

I'm trying to find a hotel in London and it's becoming a blurred mess at this point, there is so much to look at and so many scary hotels that I've seen!

We'll have 4 adults and 3 kids (9,4,1) we'd like to keep it to two rooms. We arrive at Heathrow at noon on Dec. 14th and need rooms for that night only as we're taking the Eurostar to France the following night. Budget is an issue, we're traveling with my mom and grandma who are both trying/hoping to keep this on the low end - under 100 pounds a night per room. We don't want to stay near Waterloo, we're taking a later train out and will take a cab to the train station when it's time.

Any ideas?!?

Thanks!

Jessica

It is going to be near impossible to find 2 rooms for $100 or under that would be in a nice area of London. Also you are coming pre-christmas time and it is more expensive to stay at that time of year.

I will think about it a bit more but am not sure you will get anything, maybe a bed and breakfast place or a deal with a hotel chain. Its a difficult one!!! Waterloo is not a great area to be in so I wouldnt look around there.

I will think some more!! its a challenge.

Sorry not to be more positive, Prue

Hi,

As Prue has said you'll not find much for $100 and if you do it's likely to be a hostel of some kind or very grim I'm afraid.

Obviously, the closer to Central London the higher the rate.

Many cheap hotels are getting pre-booked by corporates for people to stay over after pre-Christmas meals etc

You may be better in looking at the outskirts where you could travel into London - but you'd have to carry your cases for a bit.

Check out http://www.travelodge.co.uk/

and http://www.tfl.gov.uk/tfl/ for getting into and around London.

Try expedia uk and you might find something.

I know you can get some decentish hotels in central london for £50 to £60 a night. (not sure if you meant dollars or pounds due to the typo).

Regent Palace Hotel is on Picadilly Circus. Its clean, cheap and central. Its not a fantastic hotel, but its very central.

Otherwise try the usual suspects of chains Travelodge, Holiday Inn (i know one in southwark not far from waterloo). If possible try to get one close to waterloo or on the Bakerloo or Northen line to make the journey to Waterloo easier.

That said ... the further out of central London the more you will save in regards to hotels ... but the further out you get the more expensive transport will get.
