I'm taking my 14 year old nephew and 11 year old niece next week. I'm their sweet Aunt who has no children.

Here's my question. We're staying on site. We'd like to do breakfast on the go so we don't have to waste precious morning time. Other than fruit, granola bars, and bagels, what's good (and healthy...we don't do pop tarts, etc.) and easy to take with you to the parks? I'll be taking a small cooler, but there won't be room for yogurt or that kind of stuff. I'm planning on keeping pints of milk and cream cheese (for bagels) in the cooler. I'm also planning on taking a couple of pounds of good trail mix and carry in small ziplocs every day. Also, fig newtons.

The kids don't do lots of sugary stuff. Any healthy breakfast ideas out there, Moms? I'm a despirate single Aunt!

Thanks!

It's not exactly "breakfast" but my kids liked to bring the cheese/cracker things. They preferred the bread stick kind as opposed to the flat cracker ones so they could dip into the cheese and not have to spread.

Fruit is an easy option and could be bought the night before in the food court and kept until morning.

The small cereal boxes (you can buy an 8 pack of assorted cereals) would be great for munching on (without milk) any time. This is another favorite of my kids since they are BIG cereal eaters.

If you have access to a fridge in your room get gogurts. They have better brands now, those are the really kid friendly flavors. But now Yoplait and Brown cow have them. You can freeze them or eat them cold We take them with us everwhere! I usually freeze some and they stay cold all day in a small cooler

...we have always taken our own cereal and whatever fast things that we eat in the AM. We purchase milk at one of the convenience stores and store it in a cooler. It usually does not take long to have a bowl of cereal while other people are using the bathrooms. We also take the little cans of fruit with us. I buy a case at Sam's and bring along a bunch of plastic spoons.
Also, I have read of many people taking along their own toasters for their rooms. Then you could toast bagels, english muffins, bread, etc and serve with PJ and/or J. These things are also fast to do while people are getting dressed.
I hope that this has helped! :)

We took snack bags with stuff for the parks, but we had breakfast before we left.

Everyone ate while others were getting ready, so it didn't seem like we took extra time for it at all.

We took fresh fruit, donuts, granola bars, cereal that we ate dry, juice, nutragrain bars, and that's all I can think of.
We kept everything in a cooler and it was great.

I just saw new cereal bars that look great. I think they had Honey Nut Cherios and the other two kinds were sugary. We always take fruit cups adn cereal for breakfast. Saves a ton of time and money.

I actually like power bars - and that's usually my breakfast (and snack) at WDW. Also, cheerios in ziplocs.

We brought a box of Cheerios with us. We stayed at ASMo and got the refillable mugs. My husband went and got milk for the cereal and juice each morning. The kids ate while I got ready. The best part was, there was extra room in the suitcase for souveniers when the box was empty. My kids also like Kudos granola bars.

Just to let the rest of you know...the refillable mugs are good for pop (soda :) ), coffee, tea, hot chocolate, and Hi-Cs. I do not think that they are meant for milk and fruit juices.
But of course, I could be wrong <IMG SRC="/infopop/emoticons/icon_confused.gif" alt="confused"> .

It might be a good idea to stop and get a variety of those muffins that come in a package; some of them anyway seem not to be toatlly loaded down with heavy sugar content especially most with reduced fat levels.

They have all kinds of flavors such banana, blueberry, and strawberry located inside of the deli sections of most grocery stores. You can place them in saran wrapping or individual sandwich bags.

Another idea may be applesauce cups with plastic spoons. They have a great assortment of these now in stores that include strawberry-banana, strawberry, along with the plain kind.

Hope this helps; have a great vacation.

There are two kinds of "portable" yogurt - Dannon makes drinkable yogurt in little bottles (very cute, very good, also expensive), and Yoplait makes "go-gurt" in tubes - you tear off the end and push the yogurt into your mouth - like a push up popsicle.

There are several brands of "string cheese". They come individually wrapped and are easy to store in a cooler or insulated lunch sack. Kraft also makes "cheese cubes" that come in bags of about 50 cubes which you could divide into sandwich bags or they also sell them in packages with individual snack bags.

Ritz "mini-Ritz" peanut butter crackers are pretty good too.

My kids are very young and they love this stuff.

Since your niece and nephew are 11 and 14 they may have some ideas of things they can't live without and may be better able to tell you what they want for breakfast.

Have a great trip!
