I need help in deciding on MNSSHP. The only day that it will be offered while we are there is the first day of our trip. We wake up early - get our flight and get into WDW at around 10AM. I have a 1 yr old and a 4 1/2 year old (who loves the charaters and getting autographs) both love music!
The next day is DS first birthday. I would love to see the characters and the parade/fireworks but not sure if i should push it. my children wouldnt know what they were missing if we didnt go. any suggestions?
thanks
Jennifer

MNSSHP is something that should not be missed if you have the opportunity. It is a blast and the children love it. The fireworks are awesome, trick or treating through the park. The spooky atmosphere.... you won't want to miss out on it. The rides are relatively empty.

Only you can make that choice. Maybe you could nap the kids prior to the Halloween party.

I agree! MNSSHP Is wonderful and so much for for Children. We went for the first time last year on Halloween and had a BLAST! We are going back again this year for Halloween. The park decorations, music, special parade and fireworks are not be missed- including the great trick-or-treating. Even adults get to enjoy trick-or-treating as everyone is given a "goody" bag when they enter the park for the party!
There are family photo opportunities, characters dressed in their Halloween Costumes and so much more.
Also, you have the opportunity to wear a costume to the Magic Kingdom!

I would suggest a great afternoon swim, then nap and the kids and adults will be ready for some great Halloween party fun!

ENJOY!!! :cool1:

We went to the Holloween party a couple of years ago and had a blast! My son (then 9) and I both dressed up, we love Halloween. The park atmosphere is really incredible, they completly change the Magic Kingdom to a Halloween theme.

With all that being said I would give some very careful consideration as to wether you want to spend this extra money for two children who are relatively very young. It will probably end up being a very late night for them, how will that effect the rest of thier trip? Maybe you could plan on it for your next trip when your kids are a little older.

This will be our first time (and the kids first time at WDW). And I have the same situation as you.

We have to be at the airport before 6 am for our early morning flight (with the latest security measures/longer lines) for a 7:30-ish flight. We get to Orlando at 10:30-ish.

I know my kids will be "too excited to sleep" the night before, and I'm pretty worried about exhaustion and the late night. So we aren't doing the parks at all the day we arrive, except for MNSSHP.

On DME we will probably get to the hotel about 11:30-ish and will go to DtD for lunch (and to buy costumes for the kids there - the whole MNSSHP is a big surprise to them - they think it is just in October because that is what the DVD said, and I didn't correct them). Then we'll go back to the resort to relax. Maybe swim a bit and then hopefully get them to nap. If I can't get them to calm down in the room, I will tell them about MNSSHP then, otherwise I will keep it a surprise as long as I can.

We'll leave the resort about 5:15-ish and take the Epcot bus, and then use the Monorail from Epcot to get to TTC then MK (their first real Disney ride - probably will do the resort monorail instead of the Express just to extend the experience). If I can keep it a secret that long, I won't tell them about the parade until we actually get to MK. They LOVE dressing up in their costumes on a regular day, so I'll just ask, "hey do you want to wear your new costumes for a bit - we can go ride the monorail train and see a highlight of what we'll get to see at the parks tomorrow".

I'm always the over-planner. I've got it all worked out. I'm SOOOO excited about surprising them, can't you tell??? :rotfl2:

I'm hoping that the afternoon nap will help. I know it will be a long day, and if they don't make it to midnight (I doubt they will), I won't fret over it.
