DD has reacted badly to diapers her entire life and pull up type pants is even worse. I am now looking for cloth training pants that are either leafkproof or that has a cover that I can buy to go over them. Any recommendations would be great.

Gerber makes really thick training underwear and a separate platic/vinyl cover. They are sold separately. You should be able to find them at Wal Mart, Target, or K Mart. Perhaps even Babies R Us.

If by "reacted" you mean a skin reaction, then you may still have a problem, because what you will be dealing with is a pair of absorbent cotton training pants, with a pair of vinyl "rubber" pants put on over it. If she reacts to the plastics in disposable diapers, she's very likely to have issues with the vinyl pants, too.

There really is no market for "comfortable" reusable training pants products because being uncomfortable is the entire point. The idea is that the discomfort of wearing these will motivate children to learn to consistently regulate their bladder function so that they can stay dry and wear ordinary thin underpants.

WE tried both disposable and cloth training pants with DD and found the mto be largely useless. The cloth ones leak even if you out the rubber pants over them so they we largely pointless, and the disposables are just like a daiper. I would suggest picking a weekend to convert to regular undies, and to be prepared to clean up a few accidents untill the little one figures it out. If you are worried about night time, use your regular cloth diapers then, but we trained DD at 2.5 and I can count on one hand the number of times she has ever wet the bed!

Yes, she does react badly to whatever chemical is in the absorbant material found in the diaper or pull up. We used pampers cruisers until something changed. I could smell something different when i opened the package and sure enough she had a rash and burns--they bled. Switched yet again and still had rashes. Used pull ups and made a mistake and got the cool touch--well we literally had to treat burns on her legs from where her thighs hit the outside of the pullup and had blisters all over her bottom. We can use reg. pull ups with some caution. The main reason I want to do cloth is because of the chemicals--I do not want to invest in cloth diapers at this point. Daycare finally agreed with us that she can't continue this way. This is why I am on a search for cloth--I could care less if she trains right away or not--hopefully she will.

Unfortunately I don't think you will have a choice about it unless she trains quickly. I can tell you from experience the cheap gerber ones are not going to cut it at daycare for very long at all as the leak like a sive even with rubber pants. You will be going through several changes of clothing a day, and I would NEVER trust them to protect a bed at night. I highly doubt your daycare wil tolerate it for very long as they will constantly be changing soaked clothing. Depending on the age of your child I would be investing in CD's or quality cloth trainers. BTW my DD was in Daycare in Hattiesburg/Laurel when she was training. Totaly nightmare as they didn't want to deal with "accidents".

My grandson has the same problem with disposable diapers. It all changed when he moved into cruisers-he was fine before. The only thing that works is to use the diapers from the Whole Foods Market-they are chemical and chlorine free. They also sell a pull up. They are more expensive but worth the peace of mind.

We are in the Hattiesburg area. Her teacher and I talked yesterday and she is all for this as she has seen the pain DD goes through. One pair might be fine and then the nexr change her skin is bleeding. She told me to send several changes, and let her wear he crocs or sandals until it gets cold that we we do not ruin her shoes. I really did not want to do the gerber ones, but those were all I saw and is why I posted here. I was sure with all the Dis knowledge someone would lead me to the right places. Thanks.

ImseVimse is known to be great, and they have organic cotton products.

We used Bumkins training pants. LOVED them. They are bulky, be warned. Clothes might have to be bought a bit bigger for now.

They are thick cotton against the skin, and the outer shell is a soft nylon in CUTE patterns.

Love Imse Vimse, and Little Beetle http://www.betterforbabies.com/imse_vimse_training_pants.html

they are not over night/nap proof. We use Fuzzi Bunz, and they are made by Mother of Eden, and they make a water proof version of a pull up.

With my three trained kiddos, we used the Imse vimes or little beetle during the day, and mostly FBs at night. They all trained completely in less than a month.
