We are in the stage of booking our airfare for the PCC2.0 trip.
We asked for quotes today and some are very good.

We are not sure about one itinerary in particulair and we would love to hear your comments about this.

3:14 PM MCO (Orlando) - 5:08 PM ORD (Chicago O'Hare) arrive at terminal 1 concourse B Gate B7
->
6:01 PM ORD (Chicago O'Hare) - 9:10 AM AMS (Amsterdam) Leave at terminal 1 concourse C Gate C18

With this itinerary we have 53 minutes to transfer from Gate B7 on concourse B to Gate C18 on concourse C both situated in terminal 1.
We don't have to get our luggage that will be automaticly transfer for us.
** At Chigaco O'hare concourse B and concourse C are connected with a walkway (as far as i can see/research on the internet) is this right??
And i believe we don't have to go through any security anymore, please correct me if i'm wrong!!!

I need some help here:
** Do you think this is enough transfer time (53 min)??
** Why do you think this is enough time or not??
** Did you ever did a transfer from concourse B to concourse C or did you ever left from concourse C and know how everything is situated??

Please if you have some helpfull information we would love to hear it!!!

Extra information:
It's for the date: December 27th
Extra question:
How much % would you give it a go??

Yes, you'll have plenty of time to walk from the B to the C terminal. The walkway is underground, and there are plenty of signs overhead directing you from the B concourse to the "tunnel". You're already past security when you're at B or C. No need to go past security a second time.

Take the escalator or stairs down, there will be moving walkways with some crazy wavy lights overhead that look like they came from the old version of Spaceship Earth.

The walk should only take a few minutes between the B and C councourse. And even walking to the farthest gate in the C Councourse wouldn't take that long, either.

O'Hare is my "home" airport, so I know Terminal 1 very well.

I wanted to add that those moving walkways make things much faster. People on the left should be walking, and people on the right may choose to stand. Keep left and keep walking, and it will be quick.

Under ideal conditions, I would think that the 53 minutes would be more than enough time

BUT

Chicago in winter can be tough - if your flight was delayed in Orlando due to the weather up north you could have issues.

Also, I'm not sure about the time factor with an international flight. Do you have to be present and checked in at the gate sooner than that time frame will allow?

I myself would want a bit more of a cushion between flights

I've been at ORD many times travelling to the UK. 50 minutes should give enough time IF there's no delay in the flight from MCO & ORD. Other wise it would be a mad dash from gate to gate. Just a observation, they change gates regularly at O'Hare so what it says now has no meaning until they actually start boarding. (I had 1-1/2 hours between planes and the gate changed 5 times, the last change 2 mins before boarding)

That's true. If the flight arrives on time, there's still waiting to get off the plane, which can take a little while. But if they get off the plane within 10 minutes on an on-time arrival, they would be ok.

Flights tend to start boarding 30 minutes before the departure time, but it usually takes that long to get all the passengers boarded.

Excellent point. Maybe they should have a 90 minute cushion between flight times.

Hi Yvet!!

O'Hare is my home airport, too. It's exactly as everyone else has said -- the B & C concourses at Terminal 1 are pretty close together. Last weekend I had to go from C to B to catch a flight to London. I'm going to guess it took 20 minutes from when I stepped past security (through which I entered, basically, the middle of concourse C) to my gate in concourse B, though that was at the far end of that area. Given that getting off the plane can take a while, December weather is iffy, and gate changes are frequent, as mentioned before, I'd feel better with 90+ minutes myself. And, if the weather was bad, I'd be a little worried about my luggage making the switch in 50 minutes.

I'm bummed you're not staying in Chicago. If you ever come back, I'd love to take you for some pizza or something in exchange for your wonderful tour guide services in Delft!

Oh, and BriarRosie? Your description of the lighting situation as being akin to early Spaceship Earth ... that's brilliant! That's exactly what it looks like. I never made the connection before.

Ally

I think that is a tight connection. You may be delayed in getting to ORD. Once in the airport it can be quite crowded.

Well, I just spent a whole night in O'Hare when my connection from LA was cancelled. I can tell you where to find a cot...

just adding in my 2cents -
i've always felt ohare to be pretty user unfriendly...
and as Kathy said, it's a very crowded airport even on the best days....
add to that traveling during a holiday season (december 27th) and i would think it's really going to be a mad dash (if you're lucky)...
truth is, i'm very surprised they're willing to let you book a flight with that little time in between...

and even if you make it, i find it very hard to believe your luggage would....

I think it's a tight connection. The minimum connecting time from a United flight to another in Ohare is 35 minutes according to my information, but I wouldn't risk it - especially in December.

United has a flight at 11:15 AM and at 1:35 PM. I'd try for one of those.

Most airlines require 45 minutes minimum between flights - I ran into this trying to book my PCC 2.0 flight home through Midway on Southwest. There was only 40 minutes between the flights and they wouldn't allow it.

At larger airports with multiple terminals for connecting flights, I always try to allow over an hour to be safe.

I agree with everybody else about the tight connection because of the Chicago weather chances in December. It's also pretty close to Christmas, so I would be worried about heavier holiday traffic as well. I vote find another flight. Besides, a tight connection gives you no time to stop and buy Garrett's popcorn which is a must for me whenever I'm at ORD! popcorn::

Thank you all for the help!!!
You guys exactly discribed our feelings for not going with a tight connection.

I know i know..... but a 15.14 flight would buy us more time "home" because the later we can go to our real home the better....
Normally we fly thru Washington DC because that's a better connection and better times, but i just discovered this flight thru Chicago but it isn't a realistic option.....
