dh and I were invited to a halloween/costume party. I'm at a loss...haven't dressed up in over 10 years. any ideas???

last year, I was an angel (long white nightgown with wings and halo from party center) and DH was a "handsome devil" he wore his tux from choir with devil horns and a pitchfork from the party center.

Cowboys are pretty easy to do.

We have also done Hula Girl (I made a skirt out of hefty bags) and lifeguard.

Nun and Priest

Nun: Long black skirt, black turtle neck, white scarf draped over your head and pinned under your chin so only your face shows with a big crucifix around your neck

Priest: Black pants and button down collared shirt with a pieces of white cardboard in the collar

Chickens:

yellow tights

Get two white leotards, put them inside one another and sew them together around the leg lines. Stuff in between them with cotton batting. Use white feather boas to cover the leotards with feathers.

Use yellow dish gloves, stuff the fingers with batting and pull them over a pair of sneakers for the feet.

Use red felt to make the chicken crown for your head.

Use white felt to make wings and attach them at the shoulder seam of the leotards, cover them with feathers from the boas and use elastic to make a band to put around your wrists to keep the wings in place.

DH wears top of army fatigues and I wear bottom of fatigues. He is an upper GI and I am a lower GI. (It's a party with a bunch of medical people, so it really will work!)

Oh, wow...reminicing about highlights of our infamous Halloween parties (friends & we used to alternate years - beware, some got pretty elaborate/time-consuming):

Four of us did Wizard of Oz once (with DH being Dorothy, complete with glitter colored shoes from Kmart). Also did Fruit of the Loom people (I'm showing my age) - easy - leotards with grape balloons and felt hats.

DH & I won as "farmer & pig" one year. He wore overalls, plaid shirt, straw hat, corncob pipe (found in costume store); I found a pig nose (also from cost. store), with pink sleepers stuffed with pillows, a piggy-eared bonnet and...baby bottle nipples down the front.

Off the top of my head, guests wore "bags of jelly beans" (leotard, multicolor balloons in large clear plastic bag; cavemen (fake fur toga with club); half/man-half/woman (pretty slick - she did one side in full make-up, curled blonde hair, dress; other side a fake mustache, slicked back dark hair, men's clothes); couple who showed up in red long-johns with signs saying "We'll work for a costume".

Probably my favorite was my boss wearing a suit - until he turned around and the entire back was cut out, showing white boxers w/red hearts on 'em.

Have fun!

Denise < --- another favorite was a Scandinavian blonde who came as an ear of corn - hair was cornsilk, of course ;)

This year I'm being Jack the Ripper for a halloween party at a friends...yah, I know, very original:rolleyes: ;) ;)

You could go and get a bunch of new sponges, pin them on you and call yourself "Self absorbed."

How about Devil with a blue dress on. DD found an inexpencive blue velvet dress. Bought horns and tail. I sewed the tail on the dress. Subtle but comfortable too.

When first dating, dh and I went to a party as a pirate and Peter Pan (we both already had the costumes from before we met - it was kismet). Another year I bought a Cleopatra costume and he was a mummy ... we literally wrapped him up in strips of ripped up sheets.

Another time he was a Viking - bought a plastic Viking-like helmet and lots of brown furry material and made himself a tunic.

I was a sorceress - had a cool black witches hat with stars on it, made a sweeping black gown and painted moons and stars on that too.

Pre-dh, on my own I was once Halley's comet and another year 'gum under the table.' The comet involved lots of glittery garland and the gum was wearing wrinkly pink sweats and wearing a small plastic table on my head. Won a prize for "Most Disgusting" :teeth:

I love Halloween

Thing 1 and Thing 2....so easy.

Get red shirt and shorts - get iron on printer paper and type out Thing one and two. Iron on.

Get blue fur (or white and die blue) from fabric or craft store make in to a crown or attach to a headband. Sneakers and you are done!

You can also put white make up on...but I find this uncomfortable.

OMG, these are all great ideas!!! thanks!!! of course, now the babysitter I thought I had fell thru...well, we'll know for sure this weekend. fingers crossed.

One of my friends is going as Princess Fiona and Shrek with her husband. She is wearing an old wedding gown over a green turtleneck and dying her hair red. I guess they have Shrek ears at Target or Wal Mart or someplace. I think it's a cute idea!

DBF and I are thinking of going out as Kim and Ron from Kim Possible(with a stuffed Rufus peeking from a Taco Bell bag)

I've always had good luck dressing like celebrities or characters from TV shows.

This year I'm going as Paris Hilton. My bf is going as a generic redneck like you see arrested on Cops. :teeth:

Ha ha. No video camera. But I do have a stuffed chihuahua and skanky clothes. :teeth:
