This past year I hit 51, and I guess between stress, overweightness, and menopause, my skin is not looking good anymore, blotchy, reddish, uneven skin tone.

So I need a heavier coverup makeup, what do you use for heavier coverage?

Good friend of mine just inrtoduced me to No. 7 at Target. She saw a report on a morning news show and they compared it to expensive dept store brands. I have been a faithful Este Lauder/ Channel/ Clinique/Mac/ any other type you can name. I LOVE this stuff. It was $13.00 and it covers like my full coverage Este Lauder makeup. It is the intelligent balance makeup in a jar, not a bottle.

Google No.7. and it will come up. Yu may be able to purchase it other places. I can't recommend it enough. I am so tired of paying $30.00 for more for makeup.

During the winter months my skin gets blotchy, red and everything else. I love bare minerals - it's a little expensive but lasts a long time. It gives me great coverage and doesn't feel gross to me (I can't stand liquid foundations or too many layers) it also agrees with my skin and doesn't cause any rashes or irritation.

I've found that I like Ulta's Double Duty. It covers what I want it to without feeling heavy. Full price it's only $12.50 and Ulta often has coupons.

Same here, I switched to Bare Minerals when I turned 50 and LOVE it!! Great natural looking coverage. Joan

I use a product called dermablend. It has awesome coverage. It's so good it covers my freckles. It's used to cover tattoos. Cost anywhere from 20.00 to 30.00. I found my tube at Dillards. You can youtube this stuff and see the coverage you will get and you use so little of it.

I have to agree with some of the others on the Bare Minerals. I hardly ever wore foundation or coverup, mostly because I hated the way it felt on my skin, but I don't have that problem with Bare Minerals. It feels SO light, and if you use a good primer it stays on for a long time and looks very smooth. Its also very easy to remove. If you have an Ulta beauty product store near you, they will help you find the perfect shade for your skin tone and give you tips on using it. I know some malls have BareMinerals stores as well. :)

I am 43 and have tried them all!

For drugstore, I agree with ColorStay -- I like the pot vs. the bottle for winter and the bottle in winter.

And, Bare Minerals has Bismuth Oxide which itches the crud out of my skin. Everyday Minerals is 1/3 the price with cheap samples and no bismuth oxide.

Good luck!

I am 50 and have been using BM for about 7 years. I luv her entire product line and skincare!!

I like Clinique:thumbsup2 for summer I only used double duty face powder... but for winter on my middle aged skin, the pore concealer foundation is GREAT! I totally recommend it, I haven't worn foundation in years, but this stuff has great coverage. And I use so little that that 30.00 bottle will last me at least a year.....

For my middle aged sensitive/dry skin I am curently using and LOVING Garnier(sp) BB Cream it has a nice coverage and helps my very dry uneven skin look amazing! I also use Sonia Kashuk tinted moisturizer sold at Target and it is also very good cost around $13 :thumbsup2

Also, you may want to look into changing your skincare routine. There are so many product lines that help with dryness, skin tone, smoothing, etc... You may find that once you get your skin where you want it, you may not need the heavy coverage makeup.

Have you ever thought of purchasing a BB cream?

I was using Smash Box BB cream but at $30 per tube (small tube!), I started trying drugstore brands like Garnier and L'oreal. L'oreal has been the BEST! And for only around $13 (less with a coupon!), i've had it for about 2 months.

BB cream helps to correct and smooth out uneven tones in the skin and contains SPF 15. It really doesn't take much at all and has completely replaced my liquid foundation. In fact, I just bought my mom who's 62 some and she really likes it!

Also, RoC Primer used to be a FAV of mine before I met this BB cream. Either products or both used together would be fabulous!

I love Bare Minerals. It's the only products that doesn't irritate my skin. Worth every penny! I found I can budget on other things but not when it comes to makeup

Hmmm . . . could you have a mild case of Roseacea? I do, and it's very common. My skin looks just like your description. If you do have it, you need a cream to treat that issue, not make-up to cover it up. You can see pictures or Roseacea online, but it might be worth a trip to the dermatologist. It's covered by insurance, and mine helped me a great deal -- and the products he has me using are in line pricewise with the good-quality drugstore stuff ($7.50 for a 14-oz bottle of moisturizer, $2.75 for a bar of special soap).

Another thing that helps me: A little bit of light colored self-tanner every 2-3 days. Not enough to really look "tan", but it evens out my skin tone.

Oh, and another vote for Garnier's BB cream. And a vote against Aveeno's tinted moisturizer, though I like their other products.

I really love Covergirl and Olay Simply Ageless makeup. Its a cream foundation, you apply it with a sponge. Perfect amount of coverage. Blends very easily.
Only negative is there are few shades to choose from. Every winter, I end up between shades, which is where I am stuck now. My usual shade is too dark. The next shade down is too pink, and the one after that is too light.

Has anyone found a foundation just like this one, but with more shades to choose from?

thank you everyone!

I've learned quite a few things. Never heard of BB, but looks interesting, after I started reading about it. I'll have to try it.

I don't think I have Roseacea, but I have to go to Dermatologist for something else and I'll ask thanks.

I thought Bare Minerals was considered a very light coverage. I've heard so many good things I'll look into.

I'm going to check out alot of these. The Target and colorstay look good to try first.

I've never used self-tanner what kind would be good to try?
Thanks again.:)

I've got skin similar. I suspect I've got Roseacea also, although we live in a dermatologist-free zone, so I haven't had it confirmed.

I've found that using alpha hydroxy cream at night helps enormously. It's OTC at Walgreens.

I like Clinique superbalanced makeup. It's more expensive than drug store brands, but stays on better for me.

I don't think Bare Minerals provides much coverage at all.
