My knees are sore and officially arthritic, so I went to the store to buy some G-C to try. OMG-so many choices! Do I want a combination? I can get straight Glucosamine? What's the difference? And do I want 1500 mg or 2000 mg? How long before it's going to help, if it is? This stuff isn't cheap, and I don't want to buy it for longer than I have to if it's not doing any good. So what do I buy? And if you have any specific recommendations, I'd really appreciate it. Just standing there in the store looking at all those choices-my head's swimming!

Don't go too crazy with the dosage. I had knee problems a few years ago and took Glucosamine tablets. I started out with a high dosage and spend several days on the toilet with the runs. I knocked it down after that and things were much better! I think I settled on 500mg in the end. I also opted for the store brand to save a few bucks.

Here's a thread I started a while back. Good reading material:flower3: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2225535

Thanks so much! I loved all the info. Now just one last question. In DH's attempt to help me, he bought home a bottle of Glucosamine, no Chondroitin. What differece does the addition of Chondroitin make? Should I start out trying this straight Glucosamine? Oh, yeah-sorry, one more question-how does the liquid stuff taste? It just occurred to me that we live in a part of the country where we have lots of retired Winter Northerners come down, so there should be lots of places with it now as they arrive!

I take Move Free. :thumbsup2 There's often a "Buy 1 get 1" at stores, and also $3 and $5 coupons come up occasionally.

We gave our old dog Glucosamine Condroitin when the meds the vet gave us for him did nothing. It was absolutely miraculous. He had had trouble getting up from the floor EVERY time, and after he started taking G + C, he NEVER did. Then we ran out (I didn't realize it...DH was giving him the pills) and he started having trouble again; I asked DH about it, and found out that yeah, we needed to get some more. Again...huge change in Zack ability to get around.

I take Move Free as well. The combo with MSN. I tried Osteo-Biflex (sp) and did not get the same relief. It's buy one get one free often.
