Hi Everyone!!! We are headed to Disney in August and have decided to fly. We drove 2 years ago from Connecticut in a motor home and it was rough to say the least....

Anyway, believe it or not, I have NEVER FLOWN IN MY LIFE!!!!
And I am very overwhelmed in trying to find/book flights.....
I have looked at a few different airline websites, as well as Expedia, Travelocity, etc. I just don't know what I should be looking for as far as price, Airline, seating (window/isle), etc.

My head is SPINNING!

Any suggestions would be worth their weight in gold:)

Thanks in advance!

Peggy

OH, I guess I should mention that the best I seem to have found so far is this:

outbound-Hartford, CT Delta/Song 2561
7/31/04 7am nonstop to Orlando
arrive at 9:37am

return-Orlando Delta/Song 2564
8/7/04 5:40pm nonstop to Hartford
arrive at 8.14pm

at @ $294.70 per person

Please let me know what you think of the rate. Im also getting nervous about Song, seems to be more than a few negatives about them in prior postings.

thanks again!

I use sidestep.com to comparison shop (along with expedia and travelocity.)

I put in your dates (7/31 & 8/7), no specific times and Hartford/Orlando and this is what I found.

Song
7/31 7:25pm departure to Orlando (MCO)
8/7 8:05am depature to Hartford (BDL) or 5:40pm dpeature to Hartford (BDL)

$182.00/person

US Airways
7/31 6:00pm depature to Orlando (MCO)
8/7 7:00am depature to Hartford (BDL)
$185.40

US Airways
7/31 5:40pm depature to Orlando (MCO)
8/7 6:40pm departure to Hartford (BDL)
$189.90

Hope that helps. I'm not sure if that's the total cost or the base price but it still seems better than $294.

Try sidestep. It's a program you download. It's completely safe...I've used it many times! And they direct you to the actual site to purchase, not through them.

Good luck!

One thing to keep in mind on those early morning flights is how long it takes you to get to the airport. If you need to arrive 1 or 2 hours early for your flight and it takes a long time to drive in I would encourage a later flight. I just couldn't get to the airport by 5 or 5:30 for a morning flight. Of course I have to drive an hour to the airport.

You don't say how many people are going or what your travel dates are but Southwest has promotional fares in August for Hartford/Orlando. Check them out at www.southwest.com. Once you put your dates in and get to the 2nd page be sure to click on the 'Shortcut to low fares' link. You might find better deals changing your dates. I find if you fly mid week on Southwest you get better fares. Of course I don't know anything about Hartford!

Booking your first flight can be scary but hang in there, I'm sure you'll get through it fine.

I completely missed your dates. Southwest has a non-stop promotional rate of $236.70 round trip. I only put in one passenger so I don't know if it's available for others.

flight times are 10:55 am - 1:40pm
return is 2:15pm - 4:55pm

You can get a later return for $266.80.

Those prices include tax & fees.

Just a tip...If you see a fare you like, jump on it. They change min by min. The day after I booked my fare it jump 60 bucks, the next day 90.

Thanks, everyone, for all the great advice! What do you all think of Song???? they have the times I'm looking for, and are advertising new media systems in the seats with interactive games for the kids, mp3's, and all!!! Should keep them busy!

And denman007, I'm going to take your advice, and jump on this right away! I already noticed that rates are going up. thanks again!
